I live in big Midwestern city, and I don't think there are any here.

I actually agree, many rednecks are down-to-earth folks who just don't like being bothered. I've never had a problem with any of them. I won't dispute the fact that there could be bad ones, but that's true of all groups of people.

shareI live in a redneck state (Kansas) but since I live in a college town with a population of 95,000 it is not a redneck town.
EDIT: I agree with some of the above posts that some rednecks are good people. In fact I have done seasonal melon picking work for a farmer, the father of my best friend, someone I care about deeply. Anyway, the point of my story is that the farmer and I are extremely divided on certain political issues.
Can we get a good definition of redneck?
