Some good horror movies made in the last 20 years?

I saw the devils rejects and the last house on the left remake and enjoyed both.

Any horror flicks with that same brutality made in the last 20 years?

Horror films from the past 20 years I would recommend:

Better Watch Out (2016)
The Children (2008)
Dead Silence (2007)
Don't Breathe (2016)
Hereditary (2018)
A Quiet Place (2018)
Let the Right One In (2008)
The Lure (2015)
Midnight Movie (2008)
The Neon Demon (2016)
Orphan (2009)
Starry Eyes (2014)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
You Might Be the Killer (2018)
You're Next (2011)

I'm not really into horror movies but the Blair Witch Project was pretty horrific.

i would happily second all of these choices, except the handful that i haven't seen & can't vouch for.
starry eyes in particular i thought was a neat little indie horror. directed by the same people who made that pet semetary remake that i didn't care for at all, but i won't hold that against them!

reply

Thanks, about half of them I haven't seen. You're next and starry eyes look pretty cool.

some of these are long on atmosphere & short on brutality.
and some of them aren't really horror at all, unless you grant me a really expansive use of that term.
but horror is one of my favourite pleasures (i don't feel the least bit guilty about it), and these are some that i've enjoyed:

bone tomahawk (2016) - this has true brutality in it, and is also just great, and sadly underseen. streaming on netflix & hoopla, i believe.
the witch
climax (2018)
midsommar (2019)
raw (2016)
the love witch (2016) really not horror at all - more melodramatic satire, but i love it too much not to include it.
zodiac (2007) again, wouldn't be categorized as horror, but it has truly frightening moments.
border (2018)
most beautiful island (2017)
don't breathe (2016)
the lure (2016)
dude bro party massacre (2016)
a field in england (2013)
absentia (2010) one of my favourite indie horrors
oculus
house of the devil (2009)

Some great picks. I loved Absentia.

i really like it a lot. that director (mike flanaga) has a real talent, i believe, for taking material (home invasions, ghost stories, haunted mirrors) that ought to feel tired & played out and instead creating real drive & atmosphere. i think almost all of his films are good, even great, with the exclusion of before i wake, which i thought was pretty subpar.

It Follows (2014)
Don't Breathe (2016)

The Poughkeepsie Tapes, 2007. Brutal and disturbing.

For brutal:

Kill List
Wolf Creek
High Tension

And Bone Tomahawk already mentioned
