Asian grocery stores

Anybody else visit them?

I go to a Filipino grocery store called Seafood City, and they have a lot of neat stuff!

reply

I never have but I'd be happy to try...but everything must be cooked

I'm a stickler about the cooking thing but I'm otherwise daring when it comes to food

reply

Don't worry. Lots of piping hot cooked food in Asian cuisines!

reply

I like it steamy hot...I'm talking about food btw:)

reply

Only Japanese eat raw meat / fish. Most Asians cook them.

reply

Most Asians are doing it right!

reply

Well, I'm no Japanese but I like dem sushies.

reply

Yes. To get green matcha tea. They have live fish in tanks.

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way, but I find Asian grocery stores to have a peculiar smell I don't like. Maybe it's the combination of live things and certain herbs and vegetables.

reply

Absolutely. There's these peanuts that are coated and then dipped in sesame seeds. I'll list the official product name when I repurchase, but they are delicious. Also, I like coconut egg rolls, which are these crispy almost pastry-like tubes that you can fill with cream or else eat on their own. Great, light dessert, kinda like a biscuit.

I love Asian supermarkets. Unfortunately, there aren't any closeby.

I used to but now I visit them less and less because local stores in my neighborhood are beginning to stock some of the same stuff they do. I used to go to this one in NYC's Chinatown specifically for Myojo Udon noodles and now they have them at my local Stop n Shop.
