Does anyone else feel a strange compulsion to return to the same movie over and over even though it upsets you?
This may sound silly, but for me it's The Red Balloon (1956).
I can re-watch Wayne and Bogart till the end of time. Comfort food for the mind I call it.

But my weird compulsion is returning to films I know are garbage, like certain romcoms and teen flicks. why do I do it to myself? I can't even answer.

shareupset's not quite the right word, but there are a few scenes in 'a ghost story' that i re-played obsessively for a while, & i think i've watched the film about 6 times in about 2 years. it has this morose, somber tone that i love falling into sometimes.
Watched The Shinning for like the hundredth time last night. I've also seen a few of Terrence Malicks movies numerous times. I rewatch movies I like often.
