When was the last time you visited a library?

For me, a couple of months ago to use the computers and Internet.

A couple of months ago to pick up a book I'd requested they hold.

I'm just thinking about how once upon a time I'd go every few weeks or more, to browse the stacks and check out 6-12 books at a time. More often if I was researching something.

i go fairly regularly. i always have books on hold, so i often have to go down just to pick them up. & i often go just to find a quiet spot & read for a bit. i find it easier to focus on reading for an hour or two if i'm in the library. at home i'm prone to the distractions of my laptop or phone or whatever.

i do go less often in the summer since i tend to spend my free time on my bicycle, but i'm still there at least once or twice a week.

Interesting. I never could focus well enough in a library to read. Except for research reading.

when i do go, i always go to the 'quiet room' - the area they've set aside that stipulates that there's no talking, no loud headphones, etc.

if i was just out in the general area, i'm sure i'd be distracted by people talking & by the cute woman walking by & all that stuff.

reply

That would help. I've never had a library that had a dedicated quiet room.

But I prefer being at home, in a comfy chair or in bed, even better if it's a rainy day.

like 4 or 5 days ago

a couple months ago just to print out my check stubs

I was in my friend’s library at his house having a nice cognac after a dinner party he held recently. But, if that doesn’t count, then I’m afraid it’s been several years since I set foot in a public library.

I access kanopy and hoopla online through my library everyday. Also pressreader.
