Your thoughts on Xmens “Dark Phoenix” flopping?
My thought? Hugh Jackman carried this franchise and without him this was destined to happen.
Plus, bad sentiments from the last movie.

The only one I watched was Logan which was decent considering I don't watch superhero movies.
shareI haven't seen it yet (and won't until the digital release), but all of the test screenings were disastrous and the feedback had nothing to do with the absence of the very talented Mr. Jackman.

there's a bible verse i believe, old testament, about visiting the sins of the father on his children, & i guess i think that's what happened. comeuppance for apocalypse, i reckon.
i actually didn't mind dark phoenix. perhaps this is a case of me being primed to expect something truly dreadful & being pleasantly surprised that it's simply a bit below average. i do think there are some bad things about it - bad dialogue, some very weak effects & so-so action scenes - but it's still very watchable to me. i think it's actually very pacey & efficient in the way it moves, and in that way it's a step up from apocalypse, which i thought was a dreary bore.
I'm not happy about it because I don't wish ill on the franchise but having seen the preview several times I had no desire to see it.
shareX-Men works when it's a small-scale movie. It's mutants vs regular human. Mindreading mutant vs magnetic mutant. Clawed mutant vs fanged mutant. Things like that.
It won't work when it's taken into ridiculous ancient Egypt god alien deity. It won't work with silly flying burning overpowered mental godess. Are they even mutants anymore huh?? I thought mutants were simply human with a little special genetic anomaly. Not even a different species, ffs!
Just make it simple, please. Let's do some speedy mutant vs laser eyes mutant. Or weather forecast mutant vs shapeshifting mutant next time. It's better that way.
This is an interesting take. For some reason studios seem to think that bigger equals better.
