Trending boards aren't really, "trending"

Otherwise why not setup an algorithm to actually determine what's trending? Instead we're just seeing a board that just had a post created. Don't know if anyone else feels like this.

Well, I guess yeah, maybe the word trending is the wrong choice of word.

That feed does indeed only indicate that a post has been made somewhere. However, it's a great feature. I don't really care what they called it. It could use a better name but I don't really care as long as it's there. I love how some film I've forgotten about can come up in that feed and I'll go and add my comment. Keeps this place alive.

Yeah I hear you and agree; it's nice to find an obscure board come into the spotlight. I guess my point is that it would be cool to actually find what boards are really buzzin (i.e. trending). Creating an additional tab for this sort of thing while keeping what's up now would be great as well.

reply

I agree, an additional feed of truly busy boards would be good. Keep the current functionality of "Trending" but change its name to "Recent Posts" or something. Just add a truly "Trending" feed using an algorithm that picks up on a certain critical mass of recent posts made, rather than just one.

reply

Definitely. I'm with you exactly.

reply

Agreed. I would not change the functionality of that section. Perhaps a third section could be added that would work the way BeenSavage suggests, though there might be space issues on mobile devices.

reply

What spacing issues do you see?

reply

More stuff + less space = issues. It might be fine, I don't know. I never visit MC from my phone.

reply

I gotchu. Neither do I. It would be interesting to see the #s for desktop vs. mobile users. I personally think it's easier to post from my computer but if I'm on the go I have no problem replying to something in short order from my phone.

reply

I like it. It keeps me up to date on new movies and shows.
