Maybe so, but it was kept in check. There was a definitive change in the social mores. Free love, flower children, weed, etc. was prevalent as evidenced by Woodstock. Assassinations, Viet Nam, cults (Manson) rioting and looting (which is still happening). Before the 60’s if a young girl got pregnant there was a marriage or she went to visit Aunt Sue. Not so in the 60’s. People started, as it use to be called, “shacking up”... live for today...the hell with tomorrow! Marriages began fading away...sometimes a good thing!
The 60’s did bring about some good things for the Blacks...the right to vote for one. I sit here dumbfounded recalling there was a time in my life when Blacks couldn’t vote! They couldn’t drink from the same fountain or use the same restroom! They couldn’t *sit* with me to eat, but dammit to hell they were in the back cooking my food! How stupid is that?
The town I moved to when I was 15 didn’t permit Blacks into town after dark, but they could iron and clean for us! 😱
