Last Autograph You Got?

And that's IF you got one.. But who was it from, and when?

reply

Over 20 years ago I ran into the guys from Australian metal band Mortal Sin outside a music store and got them to sign my back pack.

Also around that time I met singer Deborah Conway and she autographed my CD.

Prior to that everything is from childhood, my father worked for Channel 7 down here so I met a lot of the celebs of the time including the singer from another popular band Skyhooks. I had his autograph at one time and others but lost them.

reply

Lillian Gish. But I didn't get that from her in person, rather I bought a book she had autographed. The last one I got in person was from Julie Newmar.

reply

It's pretty cool that you could get one from an actress from the silent era whether you met her or not.

Two silent actresses, actually. Gish was the last autograph I got, but I also have Miriam Cooper's. Didn't meet her either.

Gish's autograph is pretty easy to get and doesn't cost much. She became famous in her teens, lived to be nearly 100, was active in theater, lectures, etc for most of that time, and was generous when it came to giving autographs. Eight decades signing anything your fans want you to adds up to a lot of autographs, and she basically flooded her own market.

I've never heard of Miriam Cooper, but Lillian Gish is a legend.

About a year ago I got autographs from Tom Savini, Adrienne Barbeau and Claudio Fragasso.

reply

Weird question but I gots 'ta know...
Was Savini pleasant or sort of grumpy, I've heard varying reports on him

*only answer if you're comfortable doing so, I don't mean to intrude

And lucky you meeting Barbeau, I imagine that was very cool

reply

Yeah Savini was not as grumpy as many report but was not too talkative either. I asked him about the Nightmare City remake and he just said that whoever the backers are had not contacted him in a year and he showed no enthusiasm for the project.

Barbeau was absolutely wonderful to talk to as you might expect. I told her how much I loved Cannon Ball Run. 😊

Anyone who loves Troll2 would have paid to have been in my shoes that day. Fragasso was the highlight and I took an authentic prop from the movie home with me that day.

Yes I am a fan of Zombi3 and agree with you wholeheartedly! You are quite right about Troll2 also as it’s just a fun oddity that’s become a craze. I brought home an actual jug of Nilbog milk said to have been used in the filming and it did look quite old. I’ve looked all over the net to see if there are others out there and can’t find one. 😀

Yeah I heard the dad was a dentist or something but I haven’t heard much about the mom. The scene in the car when Michael has to sing her favorite song is awesome.

reply

You know when you think about Zombi 3 one of the absolute stand out parts of it is it’s score. I have no clue who the artist was but that was some serious 80’s synth!!!

Just in time for my drive home from work! 👍

Oh god, it was a long time ago. I didn't get it, someone got it for me: Robert Mitchum. It might be my first and last autograph. Can't think of anyone I asked ...

Wait. I did, and it was after the RM one. It was Marlon Brando. Didn't ask for his autograph per se. but close. He and his friend had come into an establishment where I worked. He'd drawn a little doodle testing out a pen, and I jokingly asked if he'd sign it. He was a real boor about it, and continued to be about everything. His poor friend was so embarrassed by his ill behaviour and kept looking at me like "I'm sorry he's being such a jerk to you."

reply

Wow, impressive.. Brando is my favorite, and Mitchum is a Top 5..

What exactly did Brando do to be a jerk? Very curious.

reply

He was boorish and arrogant. That can't come as too much of a surprise to you.

Mitchum, on the other hand, was gracious, so I heard, and what he wrote to me bore that out.

reply

I bought a used copy of Sonny Bargers biography and it was signed by him, besides that, probably a baseball by a player at Fenway Park when I was a kid,
