JETHRO TULL - CREST OF A KNAVE.

lol
i remember the outrage

A tough one, but I’ll go for: -
Back In Black - AC/DC
It was only 6 months after Bon Scott had passed away and with new singer Brian Johnson, the pressure was huge, but boy did they deliver.

reply

Not a bad choice Andy
Some great tunes on this one

I was tempted to post Appetite for Destruction but I never considered GNR to be Heavy Metal though they had the sound sometimes

Appetite remains one of my favorite albums ever but I find it more rock/bluesy than heavy metal...anyway, Back in Black is a kickass pick Andy👍

reply

I feel that way about AC/DC. Are they really heavy metal?

reply

No.

reply

probably not but the definitions can become vague...I guess 'hard rock' whatever that really means...

reply

I wouldn't consider AC/DC or GN'R to be metal.

Appetite is a solid album though.

reply

Appetite is the best 'party album' I know of
Not a single bad song, a few classics, nothing boring!
Great all-time album

reply

Totally agree.

killing joke - what's this for?

Maiden ruled Metal throughout the 80s...they were the best Metal act of all time in my opinion

Iron Maiden (80)
Killers (81)
The Number of the beast (82)
Piece of Mind (83)
Powerslave (84)
Somewhere in Time (86)
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (88)

That's at least 4 dozen metal classics and a bunch of great B-side tunes in under a decade of work
They continue to tour, sell out stadiums and entertain millions around the world

Maiden...best ever!

THE HITCH IS...IF YOU ARENT A MAIDEN FAN THEY HAVE ALMOST ZERO CROSSOVER REACH.THUS WHY THEY RULED A DECADE AND MOST NON METALHEADS DONT KNOW MUCH MORE THAN THE NAME AND THAT THEY ARE METAL.

reply

NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN SCREAMING IS AWESOME!!!
YARRGGHHH!

I WOULD ASSUME MOST FANS OF METAL (SADLY, MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT FANS OF METAL AND THEY ARE MISSING OUT) KNOW MAIDEN QUITE WELL
THEY ARE AN AMAZING BAND, THEY HAVE AWESOME MUSICAL TALENT, THEIR LOVE FOR THEIR MILLIONS OF FANS IS VERY NICE TO BEHOLD AND THEY ARE PRETTY KOOKY WEIRDOS WHICH GETS EXTRA POINTS ON MY SCORECARD!

BRUCE DICKINSON EVEN FLEW THE JET PLANE AROUND THE WORLD FOR ONE OF THE MAIDEN TOURS

THEY ARE AWESOME DUDE!

reply

YES.YES THEY ARE..AS STATED BY YOURSELF THOUGH..UNLESS YOU ARE A METAL FAN(LIMITED NUMBER) THEY ARENT MUCH MORE THAN A NAME AND MAYBE A REPUTATION...THEYRE GREAT.I LIKE THEM VERY MUCH.THEY WILL NEVER GET THEIR FULL DUE RESPECT FROM THE MAINSTREAM HOWEVER DUE TO THEIR LACK OF CROSSOVER APPEAL.

reply

THE MAINSTREAM CAN JUMP OFF A CLIFF
WE KNOW WHAT'S UP

UP THE IRONS!!!

reply

80s were all about thrash & speed metal.
Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax etc

reply

I was never huge on Slayer but your other picks are excellent

reply

If it were 90's I'd go for Metallica's Black Album.

For 80's I'll pick Iron Maiden's Somewhere In Time, but it could have been any of their 80's albums quite easily.
