Question for everybody....

Does anyone else experience a hard time finding a new job? I must have updated my resume at least a million times and gone on several interviews and prepared for those interviews too and I never receive any call backs. It is truly frustrating. I want a new job so badly but, I'm having the hardest time trying to find a new one....

I have been fairly fortunate that when I have had to look for a job, I was able to get one pretty quickly. They were never high paying or glamorous jobs, but they were still work. Good luck on the job search. Hope you find something soon.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. :)

I've worked for the same company for 19 years and gone on interviews elsewhere, with nothing panning out. It makes me worry about what I would go through if I lost my job tomorrow.

reply

I feel exactly the same way. I have been at my current company for 11 years and if I lost job, I don't know what I am going to do....

it's not uncommon for people to have to spend a long time looking, particularly if you're at the extremes so to speak - either starting out, or if you have quite a bit of experience & are looking for a senior position. a guy i knew spent a good 18 months searching, and when he did find something he realized he'd made a mistake & gotten in to something that wasn't right for him. he only lasted about 6 weeks with that outfit, & then spent another 8 months before finding something permanent.

the only advice i'll give, & you'll likely have heard this before, is practice interviews as much as you can, & try to get your answers down pat, committed to memory.

and don't get too frustrated. almost everybody's been there at one time or another.

*on the plus side you have been very polite and nice and that's worth a lot on the job...you'll have it sorted out soon enough

You just have to buckle down, and redouble your efforts. Remember that when you're looking for a job, that's your job!
So you need to give it a 100% effort. Good luck! Something will turn up eventually.

You're welcome, andreaahr. The first step in doing anything is believing that you can do it. And I believe you can do it.

Never give up, ask for feedback when you attend an interview and miss out on the job so you can work on whatever perceived shortfalls you have.
