I never liked FG very much. Obviously not realistic, but it pushes sentimentality a little too hard. It's a bit sappy. I prefer Cast Away much more, if it's o-k to compare the two.

I love it. It's a wonderful movie and it totally holds up.

I don't think it held up when it was first made!

It wouldn't hold up now mainly because it was made at a time when there were a lot of nostalgia films about the 50's and 60's, presumably people who grew up in that era were reliving their youth and Forrest Gump provided them a rosy walk down memory lane.

The thing is would we care about nostalgia films set in the 90's or 2000's?

good question.

There are people now who are nostalgic for the 90s, and at least a few new or newer films are set in the 90s. I think a lot of it has to do with it being the last decade before cell phones and the internet became so central to our lives, and of course social media.

I think Forrest was a very endearing character, and that's why so many people liked the movie. Haven't seen it in a long time so I'm not sure how or if I think differently about it now, but my guess is not much.

I was in my late teens and early 20's during the 90's so it was an important part of my life. I don't feel any nostalgia for that decade though. The 80's though was just a great decade and I could be nostalgic about that decade forever.

It is amazing looking back to a time when being out really meant being un-contactable because cell phones didn't exist and not being able to just look up whatever you wanted on the net. I had pen pals back then, people you would actually write letters too. Now you can type instantly to one and another.

I haven’t seen it since it came out. I liked it at the time.

This film absolutely holds up. Still an amazing film. In my opinion it's timeless.

It makes you laugh. It makes you cry. It's exciting. It's just a beautiful film to watch.
