I still love Forrest Gump

The Vietnam scenes, Bubba Blue and his odd obsession with shrimp, Sally Field in 'put-upon mother' mode, sort of sympathizing with Jenny but not really admiring her, Hanks totally nailing it...
I really like Gump a bunch

reply

Yes. I really relate to Jenny. I know she's hated by viewers, but I get her.
And the film's a ball! The sound tracks great. The nostalgia.
"I'm sorry I had a fight in the middle of your Black Panther party." My favorite line!

reply

That is an all time lineπŸ˜‚

reply

πŸ˜„ I don't remember that line, but it is great!

reply

What do you mean you relate to Jenny? Thinking about your old HS friend who liked you a lot but maybe you didn't like him the same way. He was a great guy and would treat you right but you wanted to party and get out of town for a while? Isnt that basically it LauraGrace?

reply

Yea, but Forrest is a boring guy so...

reply

you sound angry.

I don't feel like I could have any kind of neutral or positive interaction with you discussing this.
You are free to prove me wrong.

I haven't seen it for years, but I liked it.

I don't think that writer understands people.

theres some guy walking across america right now but he has a trailer to relax in at the end of day

reply

I know I'm in a minority, but I just couldn't ever like the movie. I didn't hate it or anything, but I thought it was more loved for the special effects than the story. I like Tom Hanks, but I Forrest Gump and his story irritated me.

Redeeming point is the great soundtrack.

reply

FYI the movie was widely derided as a sticky mess when it was new and making bank.

It was popular of course, but it definitely wasn't one of those films that everyone adored.
