How could this site be improved?

My top three things would be:
1. Keep all the notifications for a single post together. It's kind of insane to get a line of eight comment notifications for the same post instead of it being condensed and just being shown +8 on the same post.

2. The ability to turn off updates from discussions you no longer want to be a part of. (It very well may be a feature, just one that's not very obvious.)

3. Getting notified about comments that aren't replies to your own on a post you're a part of so you can continue to be more involved in the discussion.

The problem with the first one is that if there are 8 responses to your post, you'll have to sift through the entire thread searching for it. Keeping them individually let's you see them quicker.

I understand what you're saying. I get on the Steam forums as well though and that's what they do and it's a lot more simple.

That being said, replying to other comments on here is different than on Steam, so I see where it'd be really inconvenient.

Where do I begin?

1. Add color.
2. Add avatars.
3. Add signatures to our posts.
4. Make it so that we can use emojis, videos and gifs.

Give me some time, and I'll come up with some more.

Personally, I don't care about any of that, except it'd be nice to have gifs and videos show right in our posts.

What I would like is for the ignore feature to be fixed, and to not have to hand BB code for URLs and other formatting.

Nah, there are lots of boards out there who don't have them. IMDb never had them either. But I admit it'd be nice to have them here. They can be fun 😊

Definitely. Also allow for more than one formatting code per post. Larger character limit too.

PS The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (1974) is one of my favorite films, and Bruno S. is one of my favorite actors. He died in 2010, one year before I visited Germany. I read somewhere that late in life he would hang out in a bier stube, and meet people. I would have loved to meet him, but I was a year too late. Drat!

I think all notifications should trigger an alert on our cell phones that we can't opt out of and we don't even know how the hell Jim got our cell phone numbers nor how he got our addresses for the MovieChat mailing list and WTF he just sold our info to a Chinese conglomerate and now we're all getting endless spam offering 50 cent phone cords and USB wall outlet adapters.

Go to your profile, then 'edit' profile and then click 'e-mail off'

Those annoyed me too until Dewey slapped me in the head and told me what to do almost 2 years ago😬

LOL, I was actually going overboard on abstract sarcasm just for fun.

Yes those emails were a bit much and I disabled them right away, but my emails don't trigger my phone.

I didn't even think to consider that it WOULD actually trigger some peoples' phones who use email apps!

Everyone should be allowed just one ban. It's a one-time, one-use, never-get-it-back choice where you can simply pick a user you don't like, and ban them permanently.

It's one-use, because it actually bans you instead.
