I think we did something like this a while ago. It was a hoot. Time for another visit.

Any song by William Shatner. This will make your ears bleed.

he has to get out more.

reply

That would be a start. The video is a reupload though because the real poster took it down after being mocked. It was originally posted by a channel called TheGamersCave.

reply

Oh wow I could not make it more than 10 seconds into that.

reply

Still impressive.

This is number one worst for me. It's sort of funny how whenever someone does a terrible national anthem, there so ashamed and feel like they need to apologize a crapload. It's like, we know you didn't try to suck, and the humiliation of the event is enough, further humiliation is not necessary. I don't need anybody to explain or apologize.

reply

Roseanne Barr actually sang it bad on purpose, she thought they were stupid for picking a comedian to sing it, so she deciced to make fun of the whole thing.

reply

I didn't hate her version. Irreverent perhaps, but that's not really an issue for me. That's just Roseanne. She was pretty cool back then.

reply

It isn't even the worst version out there, at least she sang with passion.

reply

But she was trying to be funny by sucking (screeching) at it, problem is: silly is not funny.
Hey let's give Pia Zadora a whirl at it.

reply

..it wasn't ha-ha funny.

reply

Just like she's apologizing back and forth over being outed from her reboot Tv show.
But, I cannot imagine what she expected with the anthem; it's not like she could have been possibly sincere in how she did it. And why was she picked, she can really sing?

reply

It was meant to suck.

reply

Richard Harris: "McArthur Park" (someone left the cake out in the rain).

reply

"McArthur Park" cringeworthy? Though trends change, that's an extreme adjective for one of the most classic, evocative songs ever. It' s not the non-distinctive generic-like music that has evolved.

reply

I've thought it awful my entire life, sorry!

reply

You certainly softened your wording compared to message-alert I received from you, for some reason.

By the way, I don't know if you're aware, but the "cake left out in the rain.." lyrics is a metaphor. It's fine, I felt cringed-out by the loud-banging/scream/ inaudible songs back then which they called music.

reply

We're all just giving our opinions. Seems like you like the song, others didn't, that's all.

What is "left the cake out in the rain" a metaphor for?

The lyrics have always had a cringe factor for me too, coupled with the to me OTT emotion he sang,

I don't think that I can make it
Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe agaaaain!

reply

But, even if I disliked the song, I would not need to vent such emotion/anger over it. Makes me wonder it's just the nature of the board, or if some people have never experienced real pain.

I believe "left the cake out in the rain" is a metaphor for the entire song. From what I can decipher, it's about losing someone, a lover, equated to something being ruined and irreparable ( the cake in the rain ruined). At the end of the song, the lyrics indicate "(the memory?) in his hands...and I will use it", and that after all the people in his life, "that lover will always been the one" . It's not about an actual cake in the rain and losing a recipe

But, regardless of the lyrics, I find the music enjoyable and with an edge/modulation.. If Donna Summer recreated the song, she did it to "improve" on it, or because she liked it?

reply

I don't see either Prelude or Statego expressing a lot of emotion, let alone anger, over the it. Is it their use of exclamation marks that make you read their posts that way?

Well, I suppose that's what it means. To me it's an unfortunate choice of words that didn't at all evoke feelings of loss or sorrow in me, which I gather they were supposed to do.

I'm trying to imagine just the music, sans lyrics, and I can't do it, so can't comment on that. Did Donna Summer do a cover of it? If she did, I imagine it was because she liked it. As I said earlier, different people have different tastes.

reply

That's cool.
I suppose the popular instrumental from that time period (from a film perhaps) "Love is Blue" is out of the question then.

reply

Oh no, I liked Love Is Blue. Also, of I believe the same time period, Jose Feliciano.

reply

I found this:
"orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version (recorded in late 1967) became the only number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in America"

reply

It's a pretty composition.

What did you think of the theme song for Chariots of Fire? I liked that too.

reply

I dont' recall the Chariots of Fire theme (though I probably have heard it)

reply

Here it is. I'm sure you've heard it before. I find it beautiful and inspirational.

My PC doesn't have audio, but thank you for the link.

reply

Ah, too bad. It's a very nice piece.

reply

Yes, I agree. Those lyrics are awful!

reply

You both ( Prelude) become this emotional over a song? You are stating something like it's a fact, it's an opinion, not a fact. And I dont' know what the poster is "Sorry!" about, as if I feel rejected.

reply

Nope, you are the one who's getting emotional over a song. We don't like lyrics you apparently do like. Deal with it.

Lol. I appreciate that. I might get nightmares of giant tornadoes made up of "I seen" chasing me.

Now that's funny.
