Do you like Filipino food ??
Last night we went to a Filipino restaurant. We had roast pork with banana leaves and other spices and then steamed vegetables on rice. The flavors were just amazing. For dessert we had cornbread bibingka.

shareNever had it, never even seen a place to get it around these parts
Sounds really good though
Say what? How can that be true if you live in Yonkers?
What about the Hapag Filipino Cuisine in Highridge Plaza?
I relocated a few years ago as they were building Highridge and never saw a Filipino joint there
I did like like the Greek place...remind me of the name of that Greek place
We had a Hawaiian place for a while that was cozy, but they finally quit. There are other Hawaiian options around, so I guess they tried for as long as they could. The building was empty for a bit, then a Greek Restaurant took it's place. I was glad to see it but before I could visit, it turned into a Mexican joint. A lot of Mexican places around here, so on balance this was a loss.
What - the Parthenon? The Coliseum? Rhodes?
Hawaiian sounds interesting
The Greek place was called Lefteris and if you find yourself in Yonkers AND hungry I'd suggest going there
The gyro, rice and salad are perfect👌
Chicago had a lot of nice, small, independently owned delis, as well as, of course, fancy dining. I don't think I'd ever had a gyro until I was in my 20s, and the other day I was at a burger joint called Sonic (all drive-up or walk-up, no indoor seating) and they had a Chicago Dog, and that's a good combination of ingredients. I also prefer Chicago pizza if you can find it anywhere.
shareWe had a Sonic and really liked it but it closed down:(
shareI've never had it. There are a few Asian restaurants in my area, several for Chinese food, one for Japanese, one Thai, one Vietnamese, but I've never seen a Filipino restaurant. It sounds good, I'll have to try it sometime if I ever see such a place.
shareWe have more Thai restaurants than we do McDonald's around here, and supposedly they are all related to the same family to one degree or another.
shareNever had it. What's their national dish? Maybe I'll try and make it myself.
shareSure! Not in love with it or anything, but I like everything I've tried.
Except for the durian pastries. Those tasted like part dessert, part ripe soft cheese, part ripe soft corpse.
I've heard good things.
shareI’ve never tried it. Your meal definitely sounds delicious.
shareHave any brave souls here tried Balut? Very popular in the Philippines.

Damn!
I'm not opposed to trying it if I could find a sanitary vendor.
Have you tried it?
I haven't, but I've seen them at Asian grocery stores here in the States. I'm sure they taste good, as long as you don't look at it after taking a bite.
shareTheres nothing good about it. Its half chick and half embrio. U can see tiny feathers and beak on some. Looks almost alien when u get it out the shell. Smells bad and taste even worse. Filipinos that move to the states from Philippines never eat that shit again.
shareYou have yet to name that Greek joint at Highridge Plaza in Yonkers...
I am forming an opinion over here
Close friend's wife is from the Philippines, so I've had the chance to enjoy several dishes. Delicious cuisine.
