Hey, Maybe This Would Be A Good Idea

Instead of spending so much on illegals after they have entered our country illegally on Border Patrol babysitters, healthcare, schooling and other freebies, why not divert those funds to the folks in Nebraska?

“Nebraska slammed by worst flooding in 50 years after massive 'bomb cyclone'”

It makes sense but the first step is a far more efficient deportation process instead of the farce that is the current system.

reply

I concur. We used to deport people unless they had an up to date Green Card. At one time, not too very long ago, people who wanted to immigrate into the US did so legally. They had to have a sponsor and/or not be a drain on the taxpayers. My grandparents immigrated from Poland with most of their children (my mom & one uncle were born here). Everyone of them worked and worked hard. My grandfather was a carpenter who worked on the construction the Empire State Building. They assimilated and didn’t demand voting ballots also include the Polish language!

reply

Legal immigration is a great thing. If we ever do get control of our borders and end the policies that make it so difficult to deport illegal immigrants, I would be the first to support increasing the number of legal immigrants that are allowed in.

reply

Me too! Since our educational system is on a 💩 list, we need the brains of the better educated foreigners to keep our country running. Tis a shame...isn’t it? But, with all the illegals pouring in....most are under educated....therefore on the government dole, we aren’t gaining.

reply

Give immigrants their own country.

reply

Surely you jest! How in the world do I reply to this? Maybe a sad and ignorant commentary? We ALL came from immigrants, some by choice, others by slavery, except for the American Indian who were treated horrifically. I will repeat I am for measured legal immigration; not for illegal immigration.

reply

It's not immigration if the land mass was empty on people before. Then it's colonization. I'm for the same thing as you, but we wouldn't need it if they had their own place to go. We already tried to do something like this once with the US and it worked out, except if you ask the indians, so why not try a similar project.

reply

Agree, it was colonization in the beginning. But, I’m here due to my maternal grandparents immigrating to the US in the early 1900’s. My dad’s ancestors fell within your definition. In
fact my paternal grandfather’s first and middle name was Daniel Boone!

reply

I get the impression most of you americans have forgotten this is the original purpose of your country, it was never meant as a home for a certain race or religion, it was meant for everyone. Yet you complain about immigrants and outsiders like the rest of us while your country has technically been a cultural melting pot since the beginning. There never was any definition of what an american is or should be as much as i'm aware, and because of that it can be anyone who lives there.

reply

Yes, “it was meant for everyone“, but after it became a country with Constitutional Laws, one being if born here, that person is a citizen. Others have to apply to become Naturalized Citizens. We don’t complain about immigrants who apply legally and wait. Illegals are the complaint. I love how people from other countries tell us how to run ours. I can’t imagine going to another country, parking myself while saying “I’m here! I’m going to stay and am now a legal citizen of your country!” Also, we are US Citizens who live in North America which makes us Americans. We do have a South America on this planet. This is how you define us!

reply

Who tells you how to run your country?

reply

I believe your prior reply was shaded in the telling.

reply

If so it wasn't my purpose.

reply

IMHO money spent on healthcare and schooling is never wasted, no matter who the recipient is.

The more healthcare and education that is given, the better place the world becomes!

reply

Not so...when US citizens are doing without. No funds should be spent on illegals...they need to be deported and apply legally.

reply

Oh, you support Obamacare and universal health care then? Yay! Because that IS how you keep US citizens from doing without healthcare, and IMHO giving healthcare and education to all citizens should be the #1 priority of the US government, or at least in the top five priorities, and I'm incredibly saddened that there are so many political attacks on such a basic human right.

I am okay with extending healthcare and education to all residents, but I understand why other people disagree. But personally, I think it's worth the cost, to prevent having to deal with people who can't get healthcare spreading tuberculosis or something, and people who can't get education growing up to be public menaces.

reply

In no way do I support OCare. We and millions of others lost our good insurance due to OCare because we could no longer afford going from $900 (retirement + Medicare) a month to over $2,000 a month! We got the shaft! As a result I no longer have drug insurance...I pay out of pocket.

When are you people going to realize when the government gives something to someone...they take from others! Also, quit labeling “health insurance” as healthcare. Anyone can obtain healthcare whether they have insurance or not. Ever heard of Medicaid?

As per you “It’s worth the cost”. Yeah, and who pays for it? The government doesn’t....the taxpayers do! “Socialism is great until you run out of other people’s money!” BTW, by law, everyone in this country gets a secondary education. A college degree is not a right.

reply

FYI as long as there are uninsured who needs healthcare, you're paying for their care anyway. If doctors or hospitals treat the uninsured, they have no choice but to raise costs for the insured... you and me. As long as there is anyone in this country who still cant get medicaid of medical insurance, any healthcare they receive comes out of the public purse anyway!

It makes much more sense to set up a reasonable system of universal healthcare, where costs can be controlled, than to just pass the costs of treating the uninsured randomly, as still happens. It all comes put of your pocket one way or another, it might as well be done right.

reply

You completely dismissed my first paragraph. Everytime the government gives something to a certain group it takes away something from someone else. The EITC Reagan signed was one of the worst. There were people who actually calculated how many hours they had to work to stay under threshold in order to qualify for the give away.

National Healthcare is not a good thing. The quantity and quality goes down. Here in the States it’s common to have a private hospital room where it’s been proven patients do better. In a NHS more than likely it’s 2 to 4 to a room. I don’t want to share a room...been there, done that!

Yeah, costs will be controlled at the patient’s expense. There are hospital systems nowadays who are staffed with Hospitalists. Your primary physician whom you’ve seen for years may have to admit you. After admittance s/he no longer treats you (hands off) you are treated by Hospitalists who don’t know you or your complete history.

You are welcome to that type care if you want it. I prefer my current care.
