Can you believe Michael Mann directed blackhat?

I guess directors do get worse after they are 60.

reply

I haven't seen it but a 5.4 rating is pretty bad. OTOH, Spielberg and Scorsese have both done great work after turning 60. I'm sure there are other examples.

reply

Never saw it and I'm not sure what you mean by the 60+ thing...

I bet 60+ people have lots more insight into story-telling because they have quite a few stories of their own Knish

reply

I know, what the heck? Spielberg, Scorsese, Bergman, Eastwood, Kurosawa - countless directors have turned in strong work well into their senior years. Experience counts.

reply

This is certainly so
Experience is an amazing educator

*every director you mentioned came to mind when I responded to this post with the exception of Bergman...I've not seen enough of his stuff..I should work on that

reply

I thought Blackhat was a decent enough thriller. 6.5/10

reply

It was not one of his better films, but the technique and craftsmanship were at least competent.

reply

The shoot out was so boring, no craftsmanship there.
