Board games

Does anyone still play board games?
On late nights my friends and I enjoy listening to music and having discussions about whatever, but sometimes we get sick of listening to eachother. Cards are fun but we can never agree on which card game to play.
What board games are/were your favorites? Are there any new entertaining games out there I should be aware of?

reply

Trivial Pursuit was really fun
Cards Against Humanity, while not an actual board game can be amusing
Clue is another good one

reply

Trivial pursuit is a great idea. We’ll find out which one of us is the biggest dumbass😄
Several people have mentioned cards against humanity to me. I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks Yonkers!

Anytime froggy!

I designed a board game in 6th grade based on elementary math.

reply

That’s funny. Math is not my friend, but in 6th grade I made a board game based on the book “The Phantom Tollbooth”.

reply

I was told there would be no math.

Still, I'm curious to know what Halomaniac's board game was like. And your Phantom Tollbooth game. I loved that book.

reply

Me too, loved Phantom Tollbooth!

reply

Did you try to market your boardgame? I did it as an assignment for school.

reply

Honestly halomaniac, I hadn’t even thought about that game until I read your post. You gave me a little trip down memory lane😊 I didn’t try to market it but it was a school assignment.

reply

I used to enjoy playing board games, and in theory I still do, but I haven't had anyone to play them with in years.

reply

I know what you mean. People don’t seem to just chill and enjoy eachothers company anymore. I get so much more out of just hanging and talking with my friends than I think I would if I were on Facebook or whatever. I do enjoy you guys on MC though, pretty cool group.
So if you could pick a game to play now, which would it be?

reply

It's too bad people don't play board games, or cards, anymore. Instead everyone's on their phones.

It'd be a great idea for a party -- Board Game Night. Phones to be turned off and checked in at the door.

I could go for a game of Clue right now. Or even Mousetrap.

reply

Yeah, I’m pretty lucky to have a group of friends that enjoy just drinking and hanging old school style. (I say this as I’m on my phone🙄) Someone brought over a Lord of the Rings edition of Monopoly a couple weeks ago. Really fun.

reply

Lotr Monopoly sounds interesting. I will have to look that up.

reply

Yeah you should check it out. The pieces are really cool looking and there is even a gold ring you move around the board. Nice twist to a classic game.

reply

I always enjoyed monopoly and chess.

reply

I still play good ol MONOPOLY from time to time.

reply

Yes, we do. We always play board games on New Year's Eve. I love Clue(do), although we don't really play that one anymore.

reply

We play cards when we get together for holidays. No more board games.

reply

We play a game called Dixit. Its very popular in Europe apparently but don´t think has become big in the USA but its a really fun game if you have a bunch of people playing. I highly recommend it.

reply

Never heard of it, but I just checked it out and it looks awesome. Definitely gonna invest in this one. Thanks much BillySlater!

reply

No prob.

reply
