Why would someone send me a PM? I once got one from a mod, which made sense. (I was getting too hot over Trumpers lying and spouting garbage. Can ya blame me?)
Got another one that simply pointed out I had mistakenly referred to "Merritt" Garland when it should be "Merrick." Fair enough. But I've gotten a couple others that were puzzling. One was this long and emotional note about how appreciated some us are and the person would be curtailing their involvement, not necessarily ending it. I presume this was a copied message that was shared with other members, but I didn't understand why I was included. Most of the people I see here I have no idea who they are and what they like, and the ones that make the biggest impression are the Trump jerks who I try not to engage with unless there's really a good point to be made.

So I just got a new PM and I don't even want to bother opening it. What are your experiences with PMs?

Some things are better said within a small circle instead being out in the open because the sender may feel the info personal, confiding their trust in you. You have earned that person's respect because you are approachable with something that is not easy for them to share.

In case of a dispute or possible misunderstanding, privacy is very useful for sorting out issues without putting anyone in the crosshair of being embarrassed or humiliated in front of everyone. In fact, a lot of my friendships here have come out stronger for it, being able to express things in a way that allowed us to move forward instead of dragging out the problem at the expense of everyone else's enjoyment.

If you don't know or recognize the poster who sent it to you, feel free to ignore it. I've gotten a few PMs from obvious trolls. You can tell by their feeble attempts to be clever. 🙄 And by the fact that they haven't made a single post. So, have a laugh and put them on ignore via their profile page.

I've gotten a few from one particular troll who can actually be pretty amusing
The rest have been private discussions with a small number of posters I am fond of
I don't send a ton of PMs as I don't want to bug anyone else but I do like receiving them😃

I get PMs sometimes from troll accounts. They always want to talk shit on other posters. I will generally tell that other poster that they have an attacker.

I get private massages from a very thorough 22 year old lass who does house calls and appreciates her regulars.... every fifth appointment is free!

I just get those silly spam PMs from trolls that go around from time to time. The latest was one asking for hownos' phone number. I rolled my eyes and ignored it.
