The most macho of all the lists. You are partial to body count fare. A Clockwork Orange was my fave for years. Your list is uncluttered by romcoms that's for sure! I preferred Where the Buffalo Roam to Fear & Loathing but your list contains a pantload of iconic films.

reply

Oh that'S not my list. That'S just me rating the OP's list. Mine is the last one of the thread.

reply

oops...

reply

pretty dark list......

reply

I think so, too. The only one I've seen is Rain Man.

reply

Seriously? You haven't heard of any of those other films?

reply

Oh, I've heard of most of them. I was just never interested in watching them.

reply

Dude, you're missing out.

reply

I have never seen Rain Man.

reply

It's been years since I watched it. As I recall, it was okay, but so far, I haven't been interested in watching it again.

reply

Spoiler alert! Dustin Hoffman farts in the phone booth!

reply

Thanks. I have a dark taste in movies.

reply

Lost Highway is one of the worst movies I ever saw. Mulholland Drive was cool though.

reply

[deleted]

Is the House That Jack Built as messed up as everyone is saying?

reply

Lost Highway is one my all time favs too, I actually preferred it over Mulholland Drive which I also really enjoyed

reply

The Prestige is an underrated movie. It is brilliant on so many levels - especially the character arcs and the way it sets up and toys with the audience. So much to analyze in it - I liked it better my second time seeing it.

reply

This is very difficult lol. I'm currently typing up a list of my favorites and will try to narrow it down to the 20 best ones. Will then post it here.

reply

Interesting
I shall google 'Withnail drinking game'
Thanks Barry

reply

You're welcome, You can substitute in economy Vodka for the lighter fuel in the drinking game. Tastes much the same 👌

reply

Ok, I somehow managed to narrow it down, though I had to make some painful cuts of much-loved movies to do it lol.

There's obviously a lot of yours I might need to see but the one that stood out more is The Quiet American. I had never heard of it and I like the cast.

reply

It's excellent. I also strongly recommend the original novel it's adapted from, by Graham Greene.

reply

Empire of the Sun is one of my all-time favorites. It has its flaws - but it also has amazingly rich scenes that are just etched in my memory.

reply

I love it. I was mesmerized when I first saw it a few years ago. It's not as well-known as it deserves to be, unfortunately, so I'm always glad to see another fan of it.
