Amazon/IMDB launch new free movie service "FreeDive"

I know IMDB isn't exactly loved here, but for those interested in some free movies & TV shows , IMDB launched FreeDive today (only IMDB or Amazon account needed).

It's not as big as Amazon Prime's service, but there does seem to be some good movies there. (Memento, True Romance, Awakenings, Last Samurai, Foxcatcher, Drive). Not as junky a selection as I expected!

As I suspected, not available in Canada.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure why they do that a lot. I guess FreeDive is a test run for now.

But in the TechCrunch article they mentioned a couple other free ones you might be able to try (I guess the catch is you have to watch the ads. I'm curious if an ad-blocker could help you skip them though).

The service follows similar free, ad-supported platforms like Tubi, Vudu’s Movies On Us, or YouTube’s Free to Watch selection. Word of the program came last year, with a report that Amazon would announce the ad-supported service as a way to help the company compete in the $70 billion-per-year television advertising market.
