What movies bring you Peace?

Even though its a war movie, I'd have to say The Thin Red Line. There just something about it that's so introspective and beautiful.

O brother where art thou

reply

For such a well known movie, I've actually never seen it.

reply

Beautiful to watch and listen to. Funny and somewhat touching but not heavy handed. I believed it's a spin on homers the odyssey.

reply

Good Pick.

My favorite Coen Brothers film.

I've actually been meaning to watch Castaway since I heard about it

Wonder Boys - Hell yes!

The Bounty - Loved it. There was a British show recently where they retraced Blighs epic feat of reaching the Dutch East Indies in a small launch.

reply

Castaway is good, worth checking out. It's on YouTube - https://youtu.be/8tt6d9b5hHA

I remember that Captain Bligh thing, I think it was on Discovery or National Geographic U.K it was decent ๐Ÿ‘

reply

Yes! Definitely a British Channel. I ended up watching it on Youtube with Dutch Subtitles lol.

One of my favorite lines of dialogue from Cast Away :

" I know that tomorrow the sun will rise....and who knows what the tide might bring in ? "
That, to me, epitomizes hope and optimism.

reply

It's a nice line db, that Castaway I mentioned is a different film. It's from 1986 with Oliver Reed. I like the one with Hanks too.

reply

Oops. I've liked some of his films and need to take a closer look. Who knows, I might just like that movie. Quite often, all's well that ends well.

reply

It's a good one, hope you enjoy. There's a link for it above ๐Ÿ‘

reply

I did open the link & it seems vaguely familiar. I scanned those too quickly, still need to take a closer look.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)

I've never seen any of the old Superman movies, but the title "Quest for Peace" sounds appropriate.
