Iconic Movie Structures...

Every so often a movie comes along that features a very specific house, shack, fortress or palace that just sticks in our heads for decades afterward...

I would like to mention the creepy old Cabin from Evil Dead (81)
You just knew that place would be trouble the minute Ash pulled his car up front and man it did not let us down :0

The real cabin burned down shortly after the Raimis finished the shoot and was located in Morristown, Tennessee...

Too bad too
It really just needed a good sweeping and some paint and love to make it real sweet for deer season and fishing trips!

Any favorite movie structures you would care to share?

Dang!

The house in Psycho. I love how Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris resembles it!

reply

Yep
A winner right there

All business up front and 'party' out back
Much like a mullet;)

reply

Or there's the actual house that still sits on the Universal Studios lot.

reply

Except that the other one is much closer to where I live! And can you go inside???

The house in The Amityville Horror (1979)

reply

So creepy! They changed those windows, you know.

reply

even possessed houses have to be re-modelled.

reply

Probably because of all the sightseers bothering them. They even changed the address!

reply

No, they have to be re-possessed!

reply

I had heard that
It was for sale some years back
Lovely property really!

reply

Couldn't live there, though. Not necessarily because of the stupid movie, but because of the horrible murders that took place in that house!

reply

The murders wouldnt bug me tbh...it was long ago and i aint afraid of no ghosts

It would be the drunken jackasses and photo snappers every day

reply

Not the ghosts (like I said, stupid movie), just the idea of people having died a horrible death not far from where you're eating your dinner.

reply

It is tragic

But people have been doing awful things to each other for thousands of years and id wager bad stuff has gone down on the same ground where we have our foundations

It doesnt shake me
But again, its very sad

Amityville was a steal on the market a few years back
Beautiful estate

reply

Why didn't you buy it!

reply

Never mind murders
You couldnt pay me to live on Long Island
The traffic is awful!

reply

Cycling is much healthier!

reply

But I dont like the pants and the helmets look goofy

reply

Don't be such an amateur! Have you ever seen a Netherlander riding a bike with cycling pants and a helmet on? We don't need that shit!

reply

To be fair ive never really met a Netherlander so i couldnt say

But you should see these grown ass men around here in spandex bike suits and neon mushroom helmets๐Ÿ˜–

I will stick with the car
Its way cooler

reply

You've met me, now haven't you?!

I do wear spandex, but only in my basement.๐Ÿ˜˜

Now that we have established it doesnt 'need' to be lived in 'The Bridge over the River Kwai' seems to qualify:)
