It's Pleasence who legitimizes this film|||this franchise. His oratory about what we're facing is all consuming=

"I spent 8 years trying to reach [[[him]]] & then another 7 trying to keep [[[him]]] locked up because..." We don't even have to hear why.

Yep. Watt, with a direct hit from John Carpenter & Debra Hill.

The Richards girl getting an ice cream cone in one opening of the truck & Doubleday appearing in the opposite opening---out-of-nowhere. It never grows old. And the ice cream trucker vendor is just an innocent soul who worries about this car load as they pass by not once, but twice, then the little girl shows up, grabs his attention & relief as she is a welcome normal link to what he is there for and he immediately falls back into his ice cream man persona for her if only for that final few moments of life. Watch for it.

And the slaughtered girl's father stays catatonic.

The women in the precinct are all substantially built, but, not over-developed. Just pitch perfect. Good women from stout upbringing.

Austin Stoker, rises up---answering Carpenter's call to duty and marking the spot that will live on forever.

You hit it, Watt, bless your heart.

The soundtrack is fantastic as well.

reply

Absolutely. So is the "Escape From New York" soundtrack, though that movie has not aged well.
