...And with that any and all bullshit about Trump, Obama, Clinton, and fucking "SWJ's finding it's way into every topic. Don't you people have any politcial groups to infest? Can't there be more thoughtful and entertaining discussions instead of just partsian bullshit. And what is up with topic headers about turkeys, "Do you like Asian women?", and jerking off at work?

Anyway this is just an angry, wish fulfillnent rant I wanted to get off my chest. :p

Politics is a way of life but I agree if most of it could be discussed outside of GD. For the record mastication us about chewing and predates the thread about masturbation by two days.

I like silly topics though, as long as they are (Mostly) family friendly.

I don't mind silly topics either unless they dominate threads and seem to be written by bored teenagers.

Actually, my friend, I created the Mastication topic in response to the Onanistic topic. I am tired of seeing topics that are random questions seemingly pulled out of thin air, or out of a less savory place.

I found both the mastication and masturbation threads humorous Ark but I agree with your motivations. The difference between funny and unsavory seems to be lost on some and hopefully pointing it out will have a social norm assist them in toning the room better and more often.

Hopefully once Politics, Spirituality, The Soap Box and the rest of the Other General boards get some traffic people will have their own spaces to fully explore who they are with regards to seemingly random topics.

Thank you. I'd like to add that I support the OP's attitude. A strategy that has worked for me is to put all The Usual Suspects on Ignore. I like myself too much to be exposed to that kind of bad energy.

General Discussion might be the busiest area here on moviechat but SURELY there are whole web sites and message boards dedicated to politics that have much more "action' than here. So I still have to wonder , why is all this stuff being dumped here and not at Fox news or breitbart or dietcokedumpster.com or some MRA forum , or one of the many other places where people with similar interests are gathered.

There are plenty of steady, heated exchanges on both the Trump and HRC boards here. They're constantly in the trending bar.

I agree with a poster who used the word " infest. " I used it weeks before he/she did.

Are there Mod's here? Maybe there should be a separate political section, outside of General Discussion? Nothing good ever comes from politics on an anonymous forum.

There is a politics board and each politician has their own board.
I think the conversation spills onto this board because it's the most active.
I'm not sure what the answer is.

I think the problem with the lack of activity on politics and other boards, and why it spills over here, is because the specialised boards are not immediately noticeable on the site, unlike the General Discussion board.

There are Mods...
They pop up occasionally but they are not terribly harsh and are frequently pretty fun

Mod#5 deleted one of my posts ages ago but he/she was rather reasonable about it and i probably deserved it...i was being rather dickish that night

Overall just expect lots of silliness and fun here on GD
Politics aint my thing either but you can always skip those posts

From what I've seen, at least some of them are on top of their game. Witnessed a very questionable thread disappear rather quickly earlier today.
