Hollywood makes a lot of crap movies

I currently have access to five streaming services - Netflix/TMN Canada/Superchannel Canada/Hollywood Suite/Shudder and have trouble finding a movie to watch.

Netflix has On Golden Pond.

It's not a movie, it's a TV series, but since you have Netflix, try watching "Black Mirror". It's an anthology series about the dark side of technology in the near future. The first two series were done in England, Since then, Netflix has been doing it.
It's part sci-fi, part horror, part mystery. It's rated 8.9 on IMDB. I've watched three episodes, and I can hardly wait to view more.

They made a lot of great movies between the 1930s-70s

I have TNT channel here, during the day old movies, but during the night "new" movies.

reply

That's why I mostly stick to older and foreign movies.
New movies don't do much for me anymore.
Still some great older movies that I haven't seen.
Filmstruck is really good.
Filmmovement is awesome if you like foreign movies.

I'm becoming somewhat fond of Noir Alley on TCM on Sunday mornings, dewey. The last one I saw was Pushover with Fred Mac Murray and the debut of Kim Novak. Found it hard to believe she was only 20 in that.

reply

I must have about 30 of these movies on my DVR.
I always thought I had seen most of the noir movies. I was totally wrong.

I think I have Pushover on my DVR.
I've always been a fan of these movies but they are becoming some of my favorites.
So many good ones. Even the ones who don't have big name actors are pretty good.
I also like that most are only 1.5 hours long. If you have a free evening you could actually
squeeze two films in.

The first one I watched was The Window which, I discovered, was actually the inspiration for Hitchcock's Rear Window.

Hope I get up in time for tomorrow morning's contribution.

reply

Yeah.. but it's not only Hollywood apparently. Hong Kong, Japan, Korea movie industry are also churning out virtually all craps nowadays. I wonder why. Is it just because I'm getting old?
