At what age did you stop trick-or-treating?

For me it was thirteen.

reply

I think it was 7th grade so that would be 12.
I admit I am annoyed when I see 16 year olds trick or treating. At that age they should be out smoking pot and having sex! leave the candy for the little kids!

They probably are out smoking pot. That's why they want the candy. After a while, those munchies take over. Ya gotta have that sweet stuff! LOL!

What?!... 16 year olds should not be out smoking pot and having sex. Those are for 18 year olds.

reply

sorry your teens were so boring.

reply

That was a long time ago.

Maybe 30 or thereabouts?

reply

^this guy knows his shit
I go every year and im nearly 80!!

reply

Kudos to a man who knows how to get free candy.

reply

Much obliged you 'lil wippersnapper

reply

How bout the classic handing out candy.

You rave about the costume and place whatever in the bag.
When you put it in the bag you grab a handful of whatever you get.
Sometimes you get laffy taffy but sometimes you can get a snickers or kit kat.
So worth it. You always come out ahead.

The bad stuff you just give to the next kid.
Never have to leave your house.

reply

THAT there is how you do it!!

reply

This way you only need 1 piece of candy for the first kid.

You might not even need that if you perfect your technique.
All you have to do is show them and put something else in the bag.
They never know. After that its easy peasy.
Give them the smarties you get the twix.
Can't lose as long as you don't get too greedy and take more
than what your fist can cover.

That's an uncomfortable situation.

reply

godewey, you are wise! I am in awe! I must follow your lead this year, oh wise one!
I only hope that my technique is as good as yours.

reply

It does take some practice.

If you get busted by the kid just make up some story.
It's a kid, they'll never know the difference.

If a parent is there just shut the door and turn off the light.
They'll go away eventually.

You have a few days to practice.
I know you can do this.

reply

It really doesn't seem too difficult.
The problem is that I am too honest.
I also have all of this DAMNED candy that I already bought!

reply

Honesty is always a sticking point.
If it helps it's only weird the first time .
It gets easier.

You're just too damn good.

reply

I am good!
You are invited to my house! I have to rid myself of some of this stuff!
Lots O KIt Kats......

reply

I'm there.

I'll be the tall goofy looking guy holding a bottle of Jack
and wearing a Jessie's Girl T-shirt .

reply

You will be easy to spot!
Jack sounds great!
In the Army, we use to trick-or-treat for booze, pot, AND candy!

reply

"In the Army, we use to trick-or-treat for booze, pot, AND candy"

That's what the recruiters should have been telling people.
I'd have signed up on the spot.

reply

The recruiters told me a great deal of fairy tales. They didn't deliver!
I was one of the original Private Benjamins. I never got that Condo that was promised!

reply

14. I have always been small. I am still only 4 foot 11. With the right make-up and the right attitude, I could still haul in the LOOT!

reply

Stop . . . ?

reply

If you're short and wear an Ewok costume (covering your face and all), or something, I suppose you can trick-or-treat, without people questioning your age, for as long as you like. Then again, kids go through growth spurts when their thirteen, towering subsequently over their parents in some cases, so I suppose being tall won't stop you either ... as long as the costume conceals your face.

reply

I don't think I'd want to go out any longer. It got to be a drag when going out with our son and all of his cousins each year. It was always cold and rainy. Colds all around the next week.
It was fun to get the kids dressed and made up, but the thrill is gone after the first 30 houses!
I'd sooner just buy my own candy now.

reply

In our neighborhood, when we were growing up, the eighth grade was the last year that we went trick-or-treating. From ninth grade on, we didn't go around any more.

reply

At 13 I thought it was the last one but I did it once more at 16.

Personally I'm fine with even older teenagers trick or treating as long as they have a costume.
I'd rather give candy to a 17 year old who took the time to dress up than a 10 year old who comes in just a hoodie with a backpack!

reply

Agreed...effort is everything in this game!!

reply

I agree, kitten! They don't deserve any candy if they can't take the time to entertain me!

reply

I'll let you know when it happens.

reply

Yep
