Confused about actress death?

The actress Maria Pechukas (Spookies 1986) is listed as died in 2000 on Google, there was even an article where her ex husband talked about her death, yet imdb has her death date as 1st feb 2017. I'm confused,is this the actual actress from spookies who died or has there been a mistake somewhere?

reply

died February 1/2017 as per New York Times obit

reply

Thanks, wonder how she died?

reply

I've never heard of this actress, but, wow, that's some contradicting information. There's indeed an 2001 interview with the ex-husband claiming she died of anorexia. But then there are several obituaries from the family that say she died in february of this year. Since her name isn't very common and the age seems to be about right, I tend to believe that that person is her. Which means her ex-husband is a VERY strange man, especially since he claimed she was the love of his life...

reply

I found it strange too that the husband claimed she died, I think I read some where before that he said that because he was bitter she dumped him. Google needs to take off the 2001 death date as it seems to be not true.

reply

I agree, it's especially disrespectful towards the family. I wonder if she even knew her ex-husband had been declaring her dead all those years. It's almost like he was trying to spite her.

reply

you have a link for this 2001 interview ??

My tablet is really slow, tell me if link works

reply

reply

reply

will do thanks

reply

Let me know if you find it and what you think.

reply

strangest thing - so in July 2001 Jay Lind (her husband or ex husband) says she is already dead as per the GC interview. This is contrary to numerous obits which has her death as Feb 1/2017.

reply

Its confusing, its very sick if he has lied about her death,so that interview is basically a lie and who knows what part of it is true,if any of it.

reply

unless that 2001 article is bogus

reply

Might be,I also found another site (heritage) that has her death year as 2000.

reply

I checked findadeath.com which covers a lot of obscure deaths - no listing for Maria Pechukas

reply

Thanks for your help :)

I see the OP already helped you out, but I'll post a clickable link anyway:

I have no idea if the interview is bogus, but GC Magazine seems to have been a legit men's entertainment magazine established in 1994. In another interview from 2003 on Buried.com he seems to suggest that Maria was also into self-harming. I have no idea what to believe.

I have never heard of either of these two low-rent artists.....but in the interview the husband says he wasn't "there for" his wife at the end....which could mean they weren't even in the same city for a time. It's possible he mistakenly heard she had died, and believed it to be so. (Since she wasn't exactly the type of performer to be regularly featured in magazines or acting projects, maybe at the time the interview was given he'd not heard from her in any way that would contradict the fact that someone had told him she was dead?)

I'm saying it might have been a simple mistake, with nothing sinister going on on anyone's part.

As for the NY Times obituary...I'm not sure how closely that newspaper always verifies the info bubmitted for the announcements that families/friends/reps buy. For all we know, this woman did die years earlier, and years later her family (or anyone, really) placed an obituary honoring her.

the funeral home in Baltimore also had a notice of her death Feb 1/2017

reply

Still, that doesn't necessarily mean much.

To get to the bottom of it, why don't you contact the ex husband. Since he's not exactly a high level Hollywood player, he would probably be thrilled to have anyone ask him ANYTHING (?)

This appears to be his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100007391295709

maybe she faked her death

reply

<< maybe she faked her death >>

Who knows?? Back in 2000 after their breakup, she might have said to a mutual friend, "Oh, JAY called? Tell him I'm DEAD!!" And a misunderstanding flowed from there.

My friend's son (who is slightly autistic) was upset at a girl who stopped taking his calls. He then used his dad's phone to leave the message: "Hi, this is Tom's dad....and I just want you to know he killed himself this morning because you wouldn't take his calls, or go out with him. Thanks a lot."

(Oy. The world is full of nutjobs!!)

He said he found out a week after she supposedly died. I don't know, doesn't that seem too recent not to be more certain? It's just weird, if I have to be honest.

There are more obituaries, though. One explicitly says she died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 50 in Baltimore, Maryland. It even has a guestbook where people have left messages.

Anyone can write to the ex-husband Jay Lind at his facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100007391295709 and ask him what he meant.

Honestly, none of us here know anything...or even who these people are/were.
.

reply

Oh sure, the OP can certainly ask him if they desire to know, although it does seem like a very personal question. We're just establishing a discrepancy. I have to admit I do find it a little bit intriguing.

reply

<< I have to admit I do find it a little bit intriguing. >>

I don't find it that intriguing, as both people in question look to be straight-to-video horror hacks who never made any real movies : (

I find the fact that someone else is intrigued with them to be somewhat intriguing, tho : o

(I don't intend to come off as bitchy as that probably sounds!)
.

reply

Hm, well okay, I find it a little intriguing that someone so openly talks about an ex-wife's mental and physical problems, calls her the love of his life and describes her tragic death while it seems she lived on for another 17 years. Doesn't really matter to me if you're a celebrity or not.

reply

I think the easiest explanation is he was misinformed.

Or, maybe he was bitter.

We'll never know until someone sends him a PM at Facebook.

reply

Being bitter seems more likely to me, but who knows.

I'm not THAT intrigued that I'm going to bother some strange man with personal questions that might be too sensitive. Until yesterday I never even heard of these people or the movies they played in. I just had a little fun sleuthing.

reply

<< I'm [not] going to bother some strange man with personal questions that might be too sensitive. >>

I see what you mean.

At the same time, I'm imagining it can't be all that sensitive and personal, as he's already given an interview about it, to be read by the general public (ie, strangers.)
.

reply

Perhaps, but those interviews were quite some years ago.

But hey, I don't have Facebook anyway!

reply

Get it, write to him, and report back!

Yes, that is an ORDER!

You're scary, Cookie! You should be a moderator! ;)

reply

Alas, my life is just boring, and I need others to do exciting things on my behalf : )

reply

Haha, same here! Maybe we could convince the OP to do it for us??? ;)

reply

I read a book a few years ago about amateur online sleuths who are having success solving crimes

reply

Now what are you suggesting, hownos??? ;)

reply

I just thought it was interesting

reply

No, I got that and it is. I was just making a little joke about this woman's mysterious death.

reply

went right over my head - lol

reply

It was a dumb joke, so nevermind. XD

reply

I'll let the OP decide

reply

If he has lied about her death before then he obviously can't be trusted in telling the truth. I'm just curious if it is the actress from Spookies as I love that movie.

reply

yes according to the OP - I have never heard of her but found the discrepancy over her date of death curious.

reply

I know, its just a huge gap in when she was suppose to have died and then recent date.

reply

Google still has her wrong death date, that's if its wrong.

reply

still a mystery

reply

I still want to get to the truth :)
