Do you believe in an afterlife? (YOU WILL DIE, never forget)

I personally find it hard to believe that i will ever die! Death for me is like going to sleep then waking up later on. I don't think we are meant to live one life only.

reply

It is the cruelty of life that we are swiftly taken away.We age,we decay,we die.But what about the soul, does it endure beyond our human existence? I believe it does.😉

reply

Maybe there's no soul?

reply

If there are no soul, then what defines you, besides you body. After the body shutts down, you desapeare also?

reply

Could be. It could be once the brain is dead, you're gone forever.

reply

How does a consciousness persist after its neural network has disintegrated?

reply

Only the local neural network is degraded. There is a carbon-copy version in the cloud that takes over when the local net is down.

reply

This needs to be made a movie!

reply

You people are so funny sometimes😉

reply

Dying is like going into a deep dreamless sleep. You never awaken from it and
are gone forever.

reply

Well,my friend, there is much to learn about life for you.

reply

I've read the brain gives us sentience, consciousness and self awareness.
So when the brain is dead those are gone forever.
Though I know people who are Christian, they and I disagree on that. :)

reply

I'm not a christian, i will never be.Like i said,there are more things to learn about life😉

reply

If people ever stop to think about it, living for eternity is more scary than dying. Living longer... even a thousand years is good... but what do you do after a trillion years?... a quadrillion?

Think if you played a basketball game where no one kept score and it never ended... does that sound like fun?

reply

Everyone is going to live forever. Some will spend their eternal life in heaven with their Savior, Jesus Christ and most will spend eternity in hell, without God, in torment day and night with no rest and full regret for not choosing God.

This life is a twinkling of an eye. Poof.

Choose wisely while you still can. 🙂

reply

Nothing caps off the promise of eternal damnation and torment quite like a smiley emoji!

reply

The smiley was placed where there is hope.

The truth isn't popular. Avoiding the truth won't help. Neither will not believing it.

God gave us all free will. He won't force us to love him or believe him.

reply

I believe in none of this. There isn't an ounce of evidence to support it.

It's a fairy tale that originated in the infancy of our species and persists through the mindless fear of death that desperately seeks a way to escape.

If such a being did exist and truly rendered such cruel, eternal punishments on us, that being would be the most evil monster imaginable.

I agree. It's also at direct odds with what Jesus's teachings were, which were all about love, compassion, and forgiveness.

reply

Very true and, even as an atheist, I give credit to those teachings and to the people who follow them.

reply

I thought this also, when I was told most would be going to hell... what kind of sadist would torture even one person let alone most of humanity for eternity? Sure, you can blame it on Satan... but if you are all powerful and have the power to stop it... why would you allow it because dumb humans made poor decisions?

reply

They have to learn from their mistakes. From the beginning, humanity make a habbit to ask for help. When things go bad for them, they quickly turn to god for help. It's time to do on their own, without asistance.

reply

Most "bad" people don't have anyone to help them... it's why they are bad in the first place. The system is set up so if you are brought up in a terrible environment that unless you happen to be lucky enough to run into someone who takes the time to "fix" you that you are doomed to a life of eternal torture.

reply

It sounds tiring. Could we make it a half court game?

reply

No I don't believe in afterlife.
I don't believe in heaven or reincarnation or anything like that.
I think when you die you are just gone. Your consciousness or mind or what you might want to call spirit, it just stops. Then there is just nothingness, only you won't experience it or be afraid or be lonely, because your mind and your ability to feel and experience things has ended. Only your meat remains.
(hell is real, but it happens while you are still alive, and death is how you escape it)

reply

If you think hell is here and death is how you escape it, you are in for a big surprise.
And not a good one.

I will agree with you 100% on reincarnation though.

reply

death holds no surprises, because when you are dead you can't experience surprises or anything else.
That is why it's so hard for many people to imagine death, because they imagine nothingness with them still conscious and seeing the nothingness.
But the whole point of nothingness is you won't ever see it or feel it because you will also be gone!

reply

Dying means nothing, the self is an illusion.

reply

I'd like to think that there is something after this life. It's what helps me in those odd moments when it hits me that I will one day no longer exist! I believe that we all have a soul. That is what helps me when loved ones pass away. To me, that body is just a vessel of the person I knew and loved. The memories live on. That person doesn't die...... just the body.

reply

This thread has got me thinking more.
Does anyone believe that you live on through your accomplishments in life? You can't believe that you don't. Look at all of the great people through history.... Presidents, Scientists, Composers, Artists, Actors...... Our Ancestors.......
We will live through our accomplishments so in a sense, there is an afterlife.
i guess we had better start living and make our lives the best for the people we leave behind.
