I'm working on the script for a western but I'm losing interest.

I just don't see the point. Even though I like the idea I doubt it's ever going to be made, or even made right, furthermore I'm losing interest in movies and T.V. nowadays and don't see the point. Plus Hollywood is so filthy why would I want to be in showbiz if I want nothing to do with them? I like the story that I've worked on 49 pages complete but I'm losing interest.

If you like what you do, then don't give up hope. Maybe you'll be able to find a smaller, less corrupt film company to produce it.
If you're losing inspiration, take a break and come back to it. Don't overwork yourself; that's just asking for writers' block.
If you hate the screenplay, then just drop it in the barrel (or drawer) and never look back.

Writers are apparently going on strike, again, in California. They do not make squat. Use your time to find skill sets in direction, camera, grip, or lighting. Just like reality, those "trades" of the movie industry make a lot!

Does this tell you something?

IMDB (and now MC) has a Shop Talk area. One for budding directors, actors and writers:

Of course, many people still don't know about the site yet so the responses are minimal right now. But you can look through some of the older threads and perhaps find some valuable resource and inspiration. They always say it's better to remind yourself "we're in this together" with other aspiring students and hobbyists who also share your passion/interests. You got into this for a reason (you were moved by something and want to give back and let others experience those feelings you had). By sharing the pain/discouragement, you kind of minimize it and see it differently too.

I see LeiaOfLothlorien also has a couple thread in the Writers section (sorry I cannot offer any help. I don't know the answer to the question and do not want to give bad advice). But hopefully others see this and the Shop Talk area can start humming to life again. I remember back in the IMDB days it actually had a nice community of people posting fairly often. Not as hopping as Film General or Movie Talk, but still a sizeable group for the type of subforum that it was.

they don't make good westerns anymore, unless you're Clint Eastwood

So I guess Django Unchained, No Country For Old Men, The Lone Ranger, The Revenant, and Hell On Wheels exist in a vacuum.

I had a serious Django Unchained addiction for a while. Such a great flick.
