what are the rules?

do we have free speech here (which may offend others, the exact point of the 1st amendment)... or not?

have foul-language barriers been put in place?

yes, i have been *heavily* testing things here since the beginning -- trying to figure-out "the rules"...

...what *are* the rules?

Be kind, please rewind. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

If you could edit your post below with the phrase Fart-Knocker to remove the [ b ] + [ /b ] from around the smiling faces this thread would return to it's proper formatting layout until someone else duplicates what you have done.

Please note it is only because you have the expression within an already written expression that this is happening.

reply

The thing is though, that I've used the bold on a previous thread and this did not happen.

But I will try this anyway. It's always glitchy on this site immediately after a site update.

reply

It wasn't your fault, it seems that the site administrator needs to set expressions to be limited to the post they are written within. The code confused the server rendering the output with 2 [ /b ] being closed back-to-back which nullified the rules it is told to follow.

It all works for the moment it would seem.

reply

Ok, I "unbolded" it and everything went back to normal. Then I "rebolded" it and now it's only my comment that's bold. πŸ˜ƒ

reply

Beforehand you had [ b] Fart-Knocker [ b] πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š [ /b] [ /b ] which confused the system.

Now you have [ b ] Fart-Knocker [ /b ] πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š which the system can deal with.

The site administrator will limit expressions to a per post basis when they have the time I'm sure.

reply

No, I had [ b ] Fart-Knocker [ /b ] πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š the entire time.

reply

To test you can rely to the thread creator further down where I have put forward my idea within my reply.

Any replies to that should be in bold regardless if I am correct.

reply

Fart-Knocker πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

Doxxing is definitely a big no no

so posting your address:

Anytown, USA

is a bad thing? understood!

reply

Wilson, the rule is if you're going to be annoying, take it to Soapbox, Watercooler or Sandbox.

Or combine Sandbox and Watercooler and make your own sand castle and stop being a pest.

reply

Why are the posts showing up as bold?

reply

I made mine bold on purpose. Now it seems everything beneath my post is coming out bold LMAO!! It's probably just a glitch. They seem to always happen after a site update.

reply

That's kind of funny how it does that lol

reply

Mine is bold automatically which is weird πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

reply

And it's like EVERYTHING is bold. Even the edit/reply/delete/report/ignore buttons lol.
Maybe I'll send a screenshot to Jim lol.

reply

i think the words "Fart-Knocker" triggered this?

reply

Indeed lol....
Let me try italics, maybe that will trigger a change lol....
Fart-Knocker

reply

Well that came out bold italics lol πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

reply

lololol

reply

this is why i am doing my best to help test/push things as of late.

from foul language to stupidly redundant posts...

nothing personal β€” just pushing the envelope β€” yet only trying to help this site succeed beyond expectation.

reply

who in your god's name is "wilson"?

reply

Sorry for interrupting your conversation flow here, I am testing to see if anyone can reply to this post now without their posts being in bold to prove a theory I have set out to the user who earlier wrote Fart-Knockers.

Thanks for posting. It would seem that the issue I thought it was has been resolved or I was wrong in my understanding of what the issue was.

Seems solved at least, thank you again for trying to help me decipher the problem.

reply

All I can say again is that whenever Jim (the site owner) makes a site update with new features, the site becomes glitchy for a day or so afterwards. And he made a site update about 15 hours ago so as usual, the site is throwing some glitches our way. I've been here since I believe week one and this is what's been happening from the beginning. Things will calm down in a day or two. It always happens this way. 😊

Wilson is the main character in the movie Cast Away. It's a ball. Oh, and the movie also has Tom Hanks as a FedEx guy. A pretty fun movie if you asked me, even though it was a rip-off of another movie called Robinson Crusoe.

But I don't quite understand what all of that has to do with this convo tho...

It's unreal how good Tom played that scene. I cried the first time I saw it. Cried... over a ball...
😒😒😒😒

reply

i saw it when it was released... the reference in this thread is ho-hum.

"castaway" is fucked-up because all it shows (basically) is "the passing of time"... and then the results of having spent so much time... alone.

it rarely, if ever, touches on the personal challenges leading-up to the "portrayed results".

but you know: cool plane crash -- woohoo!!!

reply

Hey, to think about that.. Cast Away is basically a more realistic version of Passengers.

I think anything goes

Rules?? In a knife fight??

one is not allowed to insult an opponent in a knife fight!!!

And don't ever bring a knife to a gun fight.

Although the boys on Myth Busters did a piece on that. In certain situations and at certain distances, a knife can be more deadly than a gun.

Case in point: the final scene in Prizzi's Honor.

It's not faster than a bullet, but it can be faster than a trigger finger.
