What is this TV show?

It was a drama that had as part of the story line a man who was a recovering addict and former architect with a son. He was trying to get his life together and be in his son's life again but his wife (ex wife) was apprehensive because he disappeared for several years.

Another story line featured a woman (who i thought was amanda peet--but no such luck who was a corporate executive.
