TV ratings

One evening, we got our one and only call from a pollster. There was a big ratings duel between two network shows, maybe it was Jackie Gleason on CBS and Perry Como on NBC. My father picked up the phone. "Are you watching television now?" asked the pollster. "Yes", said my father. "What program are you watching?". "The college basketball game on channel 13." Pop said the pollster nearly exploded. I guess they had a small sample of calls they made and that basketball game threw all the ratings out of whack that week. We were never called again. Maybe they scratched our number off their list.
