77 Sunset Strip

Can anyone tell me why Warner Bros won't release episodes of 77 Sunset Strip either for purchase or to watch on channels such as TV Land or the Encore channels. I'm sure collectors would buy such a package.

Below is an entry on Wikipedia, which may have something to do with it. The site goes on to mention that 43 episodes were pulled for "legal reasons," but didn't go into detail. However, Wiki claims that there were 206 episodes, in all. 

"The show was the subject of an ownership battle between Roy Huggins and Warner Brothers, which was the proximate cause of Huggins' departure from the studio. The series was based on novels and short stories written by Huggins prior to his arrival at Warner, but, as a matter of legal record, derived from a brief Caribbean theatrical release of its pilot, Girl on the Run. The show ran from 1958 to 1964."

I actually do remember watching 77 Sunset Strip on one of those channels. It might have been MeTV or COZI.

It's coming to MeTV starting early January 2017. But it'll be on at 4 am in the morning eastern time.

I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.

Also, it was on the Decades channel a few weeks back, as the featured show for their weekend binge. It aired continuously from 1:00pm Sat-7:00am Monday morning, in order but not starting from the pilot. In case you didn't know, that channel does the same thing every weekend with different shows. Most aren't much to get excited about but occasionally they'll show something great like 77, Peter Gunn, the Fugitive or Route 66, amongst others. Best part is its broadcast over the air.

Unfortunately we don't have a local Decades affiliate so it's not on our cable provider and we also can't get it over the air. I live in Augusta and the only two Decades affiliates in Georgia are both in Atlanta. Even the only South Carolina affiliate is in Charleston and too far away to pick up a broadcast signal here.

Hopefully some day we'll get an affiliate here.

I loved that show, especially Ed Burnes playing Kookie.
