Who is the country musician...

I can't remember the guy's name, I thought he was fairly popular. He's apparently unmarketable due to his looks and so he doesn't receive the media's favor so well, as country music has become more about appearance it seems. But the guy is fantastic on guitar and has serious talent. Can you give me the name of any musicians this description fits?

One song he plays is very long and beautiful, and has angry jeremiad-type music.

Every time I google "current country" or "current bluegrass musicians" I get this gaggle of thin, tan men who look exactly the same.

Please help!

I think in his famous song he mentions racism and prejudice.

The guy I used to like long ago would sing about wooden indians.

I recall two versions, do you like the original version by or the cover by ?

The original was before my time. I grew up with .

Two ideas, if you haven't found your answer through other methods by now.

One, accidental racist by Brad Paisley, hardly a man of unmarketable looks, but serious talent on a guitar.

Two, Alan Jackson sings the lyrics, "speaking out against wealth and privilege" in his song Gone Country. "Racism, prejudice," "Wealth, Privilege," could be construed as the same idea.

Also, "unmarketable looks?" Have you ever seen the Zac Brown Band? This guy wears a brown toboggan on the beach and squirrels nest in his beard. If anyone can market that guy, I can still be the prom king.
