Finale: Top 10 Bands/ Singers of the Rock Genre

With the end of IMDb forum coming fast, for the last time before we move on and go to our separate ways (unless a common Rock forum within a movie forum is recreated). For old times sake, hope can get a few replies, at the very least 

Question-
If you were destined to be stranded on a desert island alone, which 10 bands'/ singers' complete discographies would you like to have for companionship?

izzy520i:
Metallica
Megadeth
The Black Crowes
Rush
Rainbow
Iron Maiden
The Scorpions
Pearl Jam
R.E.M.
Linkin Park

I've purposely selected bands with a few albums up their sleeves.
Metallica- need that adrenalin rush once in a while when I'm bored eating coconuts and catching fish.
Megadeth- as per Metallica.
The Black Crowes- must be good to listen to during those lonely nights
Rush- I've always wanted to have a proper listen to their long masterpieces, but never have the time to do so.
Rainbow- though not many albums, vast change over the years, feels like listening to different bands. Plus there's Dio and Graham Bonnet.
Iron Maiden- long discography, with good songs.
Scorpions- as per Iron Maiden.
Pearl Jam- as per Iron Maiden.
R.E.M.- as per Iron Maiden. Borders on rock though.
Linkin Park- as per Iron Maiden, plus makes me feel a bit young(ish?)

Thanks for the link. Gone through, there are some good replies. - izzy520i

I would expect that. I recognize a number of users from the IMDb Music General board including Sulla, schizkebab, Fox in the Snow, and rmcrae.

I hope you will join us at http://imdb2.freeforums.net/. It now has over 1,700 users and is turning into a nice community.

- Variety - Different moods, different varieties - izzy520i

Frankly, I've never understood this concept of different music for different moods. For me it's simple, if the name of the day ends in "y" I want to hear Metal. For someone to say, "On Monday I want to listen to Metal, Tuesday I'll be in the mood for Rap, Wednesday Brit-pop" is incomprehensible to me. It's like hearing someone say, "On Monday I want to metabolize oxygen, Tuesday I'll be in the mood for nitrogen, Wednesday argon - I haven't breathed argon in a long time!"

The same applies when I hear people say, I listen to (insert band/genre) when I want to relax. If I want to relax, I read. I listen to music when I want to get my heart pumping and my blood flowing. I use music as a kind of "audible coffee", which is why I like the music I do. You've heard the phrase "eye candy"? Well, I like music that has a lot of "ear caffeine"! 

Thank care, Izzy. Hope we can continue these conversations over at IMDB v2.0
