Family Law?

I recall a TV series (80's or possible 90's) about two families.. one cops and one mob. A lawyer dating a female cop is secretly a son from the mob family - he'd walked away from them - but a death or something brings him back. I don't think it lasted long and I thought it was called Family Law but the only entry by that name is nothing like what I'm looking for. I can picture a couple of actors in my head but have no idea of their names.
