help me find this show for my wife..

This is how she described it to me:

The main character is a blond woman, who is a police detective of some sort (some police job, maybe even some agency). She sometimes takes care of her sister's son.

The main premise is that she has visions of some homeless looking/acting angel (he claims to be an angel), and he shows his wings which shine. This usually happens when she is sleeping.

The woman drinks a lot and has a dog, possibly an American Bulldog.

As far as the angel visions, the main character, the woman, thinks he's not real and only in her head and is always trying to get rid of him and is annoyed by him and even thinks she's going crazy, but my wife remembers one episode where there is a feather from his wing or something and she gets it tested as one of her coworkers is interested in this angel (I guess she confides in this coworker) and the feather does not have any DNA, or perhaps no known DNA or something.

Please help me find the show.
