When making voices and sounds that is supposed ot be produced by dinosaurs, monsters and aliens and so on, some moviemakers tries to search for sounds in the real world. Wouldn't it be better to produce fake vocal chords, either physical or computer made?
shareI could imagine that real animal sounds are more easy to except. If an alien is supposed to be predator, it often helps that it sounds like a predator we know.

Of cause it is. In fact you can find mush such effect in modern filmmaking.
