I will never forget the first time I saw it,12 years old with the whole family on grainy VHS late at night with the lights down and the sound up.We all jumped a foot in the air.We tested the rewind button on that scene!

Rob Bottin is one of the masters of special effects.

Wasn't he like 22 when he did that film? Amazing.

It's a great injustice that Bottin didnt receive an oscar nomination for his work on The Thing. It was the superior FX movie of 1982.
