The Matrix and Star Wars

I just got finished watching The Matrix again for the first time in years, and recognized that this movie must have landed on 12 year olds in 1999 the same way Star Wars landed on me in 1977 -- Like nothing before like this had ever been seen.

Would anybody out there like to comment on this observation?
