The-N: a eulogy

TeenNick is a horrible atrocity... What is nickelodeon for anymore? All they do is make shows like iCarly, True Jackson, and Victorious and air them on both networks. TeenNick is a joke and has destroyed the name that The-N had made for itself. The N had wonderful original programming, it played good shows back in re-runs, had an awesome website that held it's own, and made some of us who wanted something better than the shows the other networks were offering us, a place to belong.

I will miss:

Instant Star
Beyond The Break
Radio Free Roscoe
South of Nowhere
Whistler
more...

Also:
Caitlin's Way
Daria
My So-Called Life
Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High
more...

The-N made us smarter and more original than most who didn't watch it. They made us have higher expectations and standards, which is a good thing. iCarly and whatever else are fine, but they should stay on their own network and not just entirely replace a rich program list full of quality and story lines that are specifically designed to be relatable.

We need a network that takes all of the best things from The-N and older Nick and brings them to the availability of the next generation along with other greats like Freaks and Geeks and many many others. Also they should air older movies that are good but hard to find on television, like Seven Minutes in Heaven, Some Kind of Wonderful, SLC Punk!, Heathers and whatever else. They should have The-N original movies based of of popular teen books, encouraging reading and guaranteeing quality of story.

Most of the shows I mentioned above aren't even available for purchase on DVD. They should at least have them on make to order, like the Warner Bro's Archive. I can't even buy them to own, and may never be able to see them again. I never watched the final episode of Beyond the Break, and may never.

I miss you The-N, I always will. I will mourn your loss and forever wish that one day, a network will exist in the same spirit as yours.
