Where do you rank AMC?

Have they not made big gains with Madmen, Breaking Bad and The Walking dead?

reply

I think they're coming close to rivaling HBO in terms of the quality of their shows. Breaking Bad is easily one of the best shows of the last ten years. It's also one of the few to get better and better with each season.

I don't like that man. I must get to know him better. - Abe Lincoln

I would now rank AMC above the networks in terms of quality of production. I think Mad Men is outstanding, one of the best shows on TV.

I think anyone can beat HBO right now..there series are absolutley horrible, such as true blood...hmmm

reply

I call bs on that one, HBO is still #1. Their history is very impressive and AMC can't beat that and currently shows like Boardwalk empire, Game of Thrones are equally good as Breaking Bad and Mad Men IMO.

My fear is that when Breaking Bad and Mad Man are finished what will AMC do? Their newer shows such as Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels and The killing are nowhere near HBO greatness.

I think "The Walking Dead" an "Hell on Wheels" are both excellent programs."Walking Dead" is a highly rated show for AMC and has acquired a huge following.Mostly due to it being taken from a very popular graphic novel series. It is a very well written and produced show."Hell on Wheels" also has done well for them. These two shows will be very capable of helping carry AMC after "Mad Men and "Breaking Bad" have ended.

I rank them at the very bottom, just because I remember when they made it their mission to preserve old movies, in the 1990s. And, then they got greedy, and sold out. So, I will never respect this channel, for abandoning the very thing it was made for in the first place!

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

I just switched to Dish Network...NOT knowing that they were eventually going to DROP AMC. Kinda pissed me off to say the least! Lol. I've been a Zombie fan as long as I could remember and now the only show I religiously followed is no longer available to me...*sigh*. I enjoyed their Halloween film fest also. Good mix of contemporary films and classic films of all genres. Overall a really good station, albeit, with too many damn commercials where 2 mins of those are just them doing "pat yourself on the back" station commercials.

A channel that takes a 2 hr film and air it across 4 hrs simply to show a boatload of commercials. Once the channel to watch in my house and the very reason I got Comcast before dumping them for Directv years later. I haven't tuned in since they started airing commercials. Shame AMC! Shame!
