Songs On Soaps From the '80s

In the '80s, on Days of Our Lives, several characters were in a plane crash on an island and were presumed dead. One of these characters was Liz Chandler (Gloria Loring, Robin Thicke's mother in real life).

Her tv husband was Dr. Neil Curtis. Not knowing if she was dead or not, Neil sat at home listening to a song on the radio, "written by Salem's own Liz Chandler", the announcer said.

The song was something like, "never have met'cha, what would I ever do?"

Now I know Loring was a song writer, but I wondered if it was her real song she wrote, or if the show was just saying that.

The song had a minimum amount of airplay.

Funny thing was, over on As The World Turns, Meg Ryan had left the role of Betsy Andropolous and her tv husband didn't know where she was or if she was alive and he too was listening to a song "written by Oakdale's own Betsy Andropolous"

I think Lindsey Frost had stepped into the role of Betsy by then, but not met up with Steve.

Was this a jab at the DOOL song written by the character on the show?

I was always puzzled what was going on there.
