Spinal Tab - Stone'enge /the full clip apparently got trampled by a dwarf/

reply

Thank you Mina. They made me smile. Hadn't seen Spinal Tap in awhile.
The Fratellis are good. I like a lot of their songs.

Slobberbone The Pinball Song / Music may not be for everybody but it's a fun song.

Wow, that was dark. I like it. The other one too.

And now for something completely different

Sarah Brightman - I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper (hilarious bit of 70's disco kitsch cash in /well hilarious to me/)

reply

Where did you find this ? This could work for cheesy love songs too.
This was hysterical. "hand and hand we'll conquer space."
That little dance thing they did while they were walking.
Too funny.

A-Punk-Vampire Weekend

reply

My dad used to have it on cassette. I've recently rediscovered it and the video. I love it!
"- They should hold something when they walk.
- Oooh, flashlights!!!?" Brilliant

Pretty much all I know about Willie Nelson is that he smokes weed lol, so I appreciate that song.

I like that Vampire Weekend song too.

Boney M. - Rasputin /It's a disco song. About Rasputin.... Also, the guy's just the best at dancing. We're Boney M. ever a thing in the States?/

reply

Mina you are the queen of this genre.
A disco song about Rasputin. Are you fucking kidding me.
I was young during this time and not into the whole disco thing but I've never heard of this before.
This was great.

We can't help but get into trouble.

That song is so current I can't even describe it.
Love it.

Pumped Up Kicks-Foster the People

reply

[deleted]

So you actually know this song and group ?
I'm not sure if I should be jealous or not.

reply

[deleted]

Absolutely nothing.
I feel I missed out on part of my childhood.

reply

"With more than 150 million records sold, they are one of the best-selling artists of all time."

From Wikipedia.

reply

I even know this song. :) I actually knew it way before I knew who Rasputin was.

reply

Leave it to the Germans to make historical disco...

Can it be considered so wrong it's right?

We also need another American, someone who's not clueless, to tell us if Boney M. /love the pointless full stop/ actually made it to the US.

reply

[deleted]

That sounds very plausable. I, on the other hand, enjoyed them greatly, both as a sperm and as an egg.

Funny how groups like that we're big on both sides of the Iron Curtain.

Daisy is Canadian, but close enough lol.

reply

[deleted]

I've never heard that rumor, but you'd know better.

At least there were genres back then...

reply

[deleted]

So that deep voice belongs to some pasty German man? That makes this kind of great.

Also, "Oh, what, wow. He's the greatest dancer" /keeping with the disco theme/

reply

"Have I just insulted Daisy? "
You just can't help yourself, can you ?

First croft and now Daisy. You will not corrupt me.
Now I'll have to add our friends the north to my list.

"I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet."

reply

[deleted]

"who by all accounts has a speech impediment."

It was all for croft. He got a kick out of that didn't he.

Daisy is smarter than being so easily manipulated by meaningless European rhetoric.

reply

[deleted]

Not English or British. Not European.

Technically what the hell are you ?

reply

I was going to say I don't know if I should be offended or not.. haha.
I thought you were American though, if that means anything.

reply

[deleted]

Nope, he did not. I feel bad now though that I should know where you are from. Please tell?
And I hope you are not offended as well. :)

reply

[deleted]

Totally agree, but please do keep it secret ;)

reply

You know I'm here right ?

You two are going to make me cry.

Nothing worse than an American crying.

reply

I'm sorry I didn't see you there. But am I really sorry? Cause that's something Canadians always say.

reply

Is it something Canadians just say or do they actually mean it?

reply

I say it and mean it. all the time.
haha

reply

I believe you.
Thank you.

reply

"double denim ensemble with Magnum P.I moustache "

Had no complaints. They kept coming back for more.

reply

[deleted]

It was the 70's.
Of course they were flared.

Don't even get me started on the gold chains.

reply

[deleted]

LOLOL.

How did this ever go out of style?
I'm going to bring it back.
Love the classic 70's porn moustache.

How did they ever find this picture? I thought I burned it.
There you go. Have at it.

reply

Just noticing these posts now mentioning me. And yep, Canadian. :)

reply

[deleted]

Hey, its okay. It could be worse.. or could it? haha

I'm just joking to all the Americans out there...they are good people. Just that president of theirs, wow. haha.

reply

Or Modern Talking...i loved those songs when i was younger...

reply

Yeah, they're popular here as well /or were..../

reply

The group break out, several years ago...

reply

Haven't even heard of them. Where are they from?

reply

Germany.

reply

"someone who's not clueless"

Oh really.

reply

Well this clueless American did some research. The highest charted song was Rivers of Babylon.
It made it to 30. Doesn't quite cut it does it ? If this was the best they could do then I'm glad
I "missed out".
I'm sure The Ramones, Billy Joel, Bowie, Led Zepplin, The Sex Pistols, Clapton, Steely Dan, The Eagles,
Fleetwood Mac, Boston, Rush, Van Halen, Neil Young, The Police, Iggy and the Stooges, Tom Petty,
The Clash, James Gang, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gordon Lightfoot, Pind Floyd, even Kenny Rogers and all the others forgive you. You know the artists with the actual talent. Many of them clueless Americans.

Now that you're quoting Wikipedia I'm actually scared and a little worried. -Edit-
They're in the same company as Bieber, Jay Z, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Lil Wayne and the Backdoor Boys. Well done.

Having said all of this, this clueless American has one more thing to say
"Without music, life would be a mistake."

reply

Highest charted song where?

But have any of those not clueless American artists, with actual talent, have a song about Rasputin? If no, then this conversation is over!

reply

Over here. They made it to #30 and sold 3 copies total in the states.

Rasputin is fair but your little group never sang a song about a piano man or a hotel in California.
Not to mention a song about Tom Sawyer. So there is that.

reply

The world doesn't stop at the US border. But it does appear that we do like our weird "novelty" acts more over here.

Fair enough. But there is no song about Tom Sawyer. There is however a song about Tom Soy /catch the mist, catch the myth, catch the mystery, catch the drift/

reply

"The world doesn't stop at the US border"
You almost had me going with this. At first I thought you were serious. Good one !!

That's right, I forgot about the other version they did.
For the people across the pond.

reply

The guy clearly sings Tom Soy! Don't let joking get in the way of accuracy.

reply

Just like wrapped up like a douche in the night. Right ?

reply

No, like that's what he sings lol.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auLBLk4ibAk
Listen to it and tell me I'm wrong!

But someone should make a game thread about misheard lyrics *wink*

reply

I'll never tell you that you are wrong even when you most
obviously are wrong. Like now.

If that's what the lyrics are then what did you think the song was about?
Maybe I don't want to know.

Maybe somebody will. *double wink*
I guess that would actually be a blink then.

reply

[deleted]

That's a good one.
Save it for the next Friday fun post.

reply

If that's what he sings, that what I'll hear. The lyrics are irrelevant.

It's ok, I know blinking is hard to master.

reply

I shall rise - karen o...what do you think about this?😉

reply

Yes, I'm sure the nice people of Manfred Mann wrote this song
and decided it was in their best interest to sing different lyrics.

Just like Geddy Lee decided to sing about a wonderful man
named Tom Soy.

reply

I love Willie.. I would never smoke weed with him either. Imagine how strong that sh*t would be with the tolerance he would have after all these years? LOL

reply

He actually has his own strain on sale now.
It's called Willie's Reserve.

reply

Nice, I don't smoke ever really. Maybe an odd puff but even that is rare. I must say that is cool. :D

reply

Dennis Leary from yesteryear..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgpZ0fUixs

I loved this one also - was such a great moment -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiu0lYQIPqE

reply

As soon as I saw Denis Leary I thought of this song.
Hadn't heard it in 20 years. Thank you for reminding me of this .

Anything with Monty Python makes me smile.

reply

[deleted]

I hadn't seen this video in forever.
Girl + bee suit = adorable

I appreciate it. Especially the booze.

reply

without looking is it blind melon?

reply

without telling yes it is.

reply

Dazed, was it you that mentioned The Name Game from AHS? I played that scene again when I was re watching some of it and now that song often gets stuck in my head... "The Name Game". Not sure if its annoying or a good fun song. The scene certainly is fun. :D

reply

[deleted]

Yeah, I think it must have been you. When I first got here. :) I love it too, especially when the others join in and start dancing. Yeah it was kind of a shock to see it in there because as you said it is such a contrast. One of my fave scenes too. I was driving people nuts with that song after I re watched it, but don't tell anyone that. haha

I didn't even start the new series. Not even the premiere. I'm kind of weary that I won't like it, and I don't want there to be 2 seasons in a row that I don't like....
How did you find the first episode? I'll binge what's out one of these days.

reply

[deleted]

Sky the tv channel you mean?
We just got Prime here in Canada and I would like to try it. i love having many options to watch tv. You do mean Amazon Prime right?

reply

[deleted]

Never saw that film before. Saves the World?
Makes me think of Handmaid's Tale, which I'm dying to watch. I used to have Amazon Prime, but of course that was before they offered the streaming service in Canada. I think its 79$ a year or something like that? I wonder do they do the same like Netflix and offer different content depending on where you live.

You like the firestick? I've heard of it, never tried. I've had a Boxee Box and a Roku though.

reply

Try these:

reply

Between you and Mina you have completely invigorated the disco era.

These were great. Disco Clone made me happy but probably in a different way then was intended.

Thanks naps. I really do appreciate it.

reply

I'm feeling like some pick-me-up tonight as well

This one is cheery:

J. Geils Band - Centerfold

reply

It is cheery. With a name like Centerfold how could you go wrong? ;)

Somewhat keeping with this theme

Buckcherry- Crazy Bitch.
I have not further comments on why this makes me happy. Even without the video it's a good song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8V0hD2zH9U

reply

Is it becaue it's "xxx very explicit"? That description made me laugh for some reason. I have no further comments on that song.

reply

Did they really need both ? I think XXX says it all.

Don't like the song Mina ?
It's a shout out to crazy bitches everywhere.

reply

Don't you love a nice bit of tautology, though? They even cencored Bitch in the title. It's all kinds of wonderful.

As to the song, while it would be flattering to be called a crazy bitch by a skeezy guy in a toilet, I think I might have enjoyed this more if I was a daytime stripper.

reply

I guess you're right. XXX has different meanings and levels for different people.
Some of the videos had bitch "bleeped" out but showed it in the title.
So you can see it you just can't hear it. I love our society.

Didn't even rank high enough for a nighttime stripper. Wow.
Unless you're a nighttime stripper in hopes of becoming a daytime stripper?
If this is the case then I apologize to you and those in your profession for offending.
It wasn't intentional.

reply

Forget the word bitch. There are women with their tits out in the video. I'd think that would be the thing people censor. What if a child sees it!

Becoming a stripper is my fall back plan. I still have to work on my moves. But I'll be a classy stripper, like the welder from Flashdance.

reply

I never actually watched the whole video. Until now that is. :)
Thanks for the tip.

I have a feeling your moves are just fine.
I can picture it now. Dumping water on you while you do your thing.

Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life

If not you can always weld. It's a respectable profession.

reply

This is not the dirty old men thread, Dewey.

I'll be a great welder, and it's a smart choice, since people would always need things welded.

reply

You should know by now. I'm old. I'm confused. Where do I live?
I don't know how those batteries got in my pocket.

Welders are a great profession. I weld. I suck.
Maybe you could teach me how to weld.
Maybe you could even teach me how to pole dance. A classy pole dancer obviously.

reply

As soon as I learn how to weld, I'm of to America to teach you as well.

All I can offer right now is how to unclog a sink drain in the most roundabout way possible. Maybe my stripper name should be Pipe Micucci. And you could be Welder Goodman. Those are classy names, right?

reply

I'm waiting.

My sink is clogged too. This will work out good.
You can earn your keep.

Those are great names. Class all the way.
Either stripper names or soap opera names.
Both will work. I'm getting a T-shirt.

reply

These have Mina written all over them.

Snollebollekes - Springen Nondeju

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlbU1VeqpqU

The Griswolds- Beware the Dog

reply

I feel like you're trying to tell me something with these songs...

Aaanyway, they were fun :)

reply

I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

Have you heard of Snollebollekes ?

reply

Now I have. Of course something like this would come out of Europe. But I feel I'm missing half the joke by not understanding the lyrics.

reply

I don't get it either.

For some reason I thought of you. They have a bunch of videos.
Some have an insane number of views. They or he must be very popular.

reply

I do like me some silliness.

Yup, at least popular in where ever he/they are from. Netherlands? Somewhere up there.

reply

I think their Dutch but don't quote me.

Maybe that's where I'll move to. YES.

reply

To Dutchland? It seems like a nice place, but I hear it rains a lot. Still though, with acts like Snowbollocks, I see how it'd be very appealing.

reply

It rains almost everywhere. Even Africa.

Here it rains and then turns to snow.
Either way.
At least there I would have that music.
Very appealing.

reply

I'm Dutch and I've never even heard of these morons!

reply

What are they singing about? I'm very curious to know.

reply

Well, in this particular song they're telling the listener to jump up and down. Perhaps it's also interesting to know their name means something like little trollops.

reply

I don't know why I though there's going to be more to that song :D

It is interesting to know what the name means. And I see my guess of "Snowbollocks" is very incorrect.

reply

Well, there are some additional, "funny" lyrics about partying off your pantyhose, destroying the laminate floor and throwing your moped in the canal. It's all very non-sensical, but that's pretty much the point. And he gives instructions on how to jump up and down, which is always handy.

Honestly, I hadn't heard of that variation of the word either, apparently it's dialect.

reply

Try this one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7skQvj-aBV8

reply

I like a medley. It's all the best bits of songs without all the boring musical stuff. lol

reply

It's a cool little song. I've always liked it.

reply

I can't believe i still know what one is coming next.. we played the shit out of this. :D Okay, maybe I'm gushing a little too much

reply

Knew it was going to be this when I saw it said a medley. You should have saw the dance we made up to Stars on 45, I still know it. Too funny. Yes, I loved this sooo much. Thanks for posting. :D

reply

Do you still dance to it?
It's ok. You can tell me.

reply

I actually taught the dance to my little niece, cause I'm that much fun. But didn't put it to the Stars on 45 music. Pretty much works with anything. haha

reply

If it's a good dance then 1 is all you need.

reply

I love, love, love this song.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Home
Seems so sweet to me. They seem like they really do love each other, and I do believe that Home is the one you love. Awww.. I'm getting all sappy. ;)

https://youtu.be/DHEOF_rcND8

Going to admit I didn't get a chance to listen to all the songs above me in the thread. I'm terrible.

reply

I should have added a note this is not meant to offend any crazy bitches that may come across this post.

"I do believe that Home is the one you love."
EWWWWW. Come on Daisy. You trying to make me cry again ?
Can I have some pancakes with all that sappy syrup.

reply

I was feeling very in love that morning I remember. I'm not today. haha
I agree to the EW! :D I've since been reminded love gets you no where. Yes, perhaps I missed the meaning of the post. For funny there is only one that comes to mind that I like but its so offensive, it surprises me that it doesn't offend me. haha

reply

It doesn't have to be a funny song.
If that song makes or made you feel good that's all that matters.
I actually really like that song too.

Sorry you lost love in 5 days.
At least you got to experience it for 5 days. Some people never even get that.

You can't say you have one funny song then not tell what it is.
Spill it !!!!

reply

pretty much on the love thing. haha :p

Its by Mad Child and I'm sure people will be offended and think differently of me for not being too offended. haha. Let's say.. vulgar.
I'm sure you want a link, but um.. maybe you can find it. Its rap.

reply

Way too many. I listened to a couple. WHICH ONE ?

reply

https://google.ca

There ya go.... explicit lyrics.. haha.

I even gave ya the lyric version.

reply

It's all good. We all have those songs.
Maybe not quite like this but we have all have those songs.

I can't quite agree with it but it is kind of catchy. :P

You crazy Canadians. :)

Thanks for sharing.

I like Crazy Bitch so who am I too judge.

reply

No that song is nasty. You asked for it though. They kept singing it and playing it and thinking they were so bad ass it got stuck in my head..haha.

Aren't the lyrics TERRIBLE? You can admit it.

*she wonders why she mentioned it, or how*

reply

No worries Daisy.

The lyrics are pretty bad but nobody is going to judge you.
We like you too much. You'd have to do much worse than this.

reply

It is pretty offensive.. but I knew a bunch of people that liked it that were younger than me and kept playing it, and it kinda got stuck in my head. I know its wrong. lol

reply

Just in reading this over again, was I the crazy bitch you were referring to? hahahah

reply

I do like you and you are definitely crazy.
I haven't seen Daisy the bitch so I'm reserving judgement for now.
I just can't picture that scenario in my head.

Although you were banned. So maybe the writings on the wall.

reply

A bitch, never! haha. I forgot to delete Tapatalk off my phone from that other site and keep getting inbox messages. They should just delete people if they are going to ban them....just my thoughts. ;)

The Rodeo Song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQNBXbGN11I

Don’t Look Now-Mamas Got Her Boobs Out

reply

Oh my the Rodeo song. Haha.

reply

Do you remember this song?

reply

I can even sing along. We sang it at 40 below drinking outside as teens. haha. Or something like that, but all my friends knew it. What a cool bunch we were. I don't know if I've ever heard a "real" version of it come to think of it or we just learned it off each other. We had drinks and sang a lot when I was a teen. Good times.

Get on my nerves!!

reply

You piss me off, you fuckin' jerk

reply

I'm so offended! haha... actually just mad at myself I couldn't remember the next line ;)
That could have looked bad for you saying that if no one knew that song! haha

reply

What line ?

Just kidding. I'm sure it looks bad.
You and I are probably the only ones who have ever heard of this song.

reply

I was singing it a couple days later to myself..haha. And probably. Were they a real band?

reply

I actually think the 80's version was a remake of an older one.

reply

oh, maybe. Like it anyways :)

and I just hit 1500 posts. Can ya believe it?

reply

Yeah, I can.

I've been here the whole time.
If you wouldn't wait so damn long to come back it
could be 3000.
Just sayin.

reply

Yeah, its crazy I have so much to say. Maybe i'll catch ya sometime.. hehe.

reply

It is crazy and you'd be so lucky to catch me. ;P

reply

Afrikaan Beat - Bert Kaempfert

Tubthumping - Chumbawamba

Girls Just Want To Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper

Downtown - Petula Clark

Jiggy - F.cuz

reply

I am totally in agreement.
Until the last one.
I hadn't heard that one.
I did check it out.
Interesting.

If it makes you happy then it makes me happy.
I'm still deciding.

reply

Hey, it's a silly song and I'm a K-pop fan, so that's good enough for me. Everybody should be getting-getting jiggy-jiggy!

reply

Believe me, I'm not judging. Have you seen mine ? I'm in no position.

I do agree , everybody should be "getting-getting jiggy-jiggy"
I'm sure this is a good thing. ;)

reply

I'll show you next Friday. Then you'll also find out what a Snollebolleke is.;)

reply

LOL.

Please tell me you have never heard of this group before.
I saw one video then another then another. I couldn't stop myself.

I can't wait!!

reply

I can't believe I've never heard of them, even though I'm a Dutchie myself! But I'll learn every song plus dance routine just for you!;)

reply

I don't know how new they are but from some of the views they must be popular.

If you learn even 1 routine I will be ecstatic.

We may need to change a Friday lunch to an all weekend event. 😍
Stratego and Snollebolleke ? Forget about it.

"With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha"

reply

It seems they've been active since 2013, but they're not exactly mainstream. No doubt most of those views come from youngsters who've been drinking too much on a Saturday night.

Yes, put on Barry's greatest hits album and I'm in!;)

reply

Some of those views came from somebody is who probably was drinking too
much on a Saturday night and is not a youngster.

Pause, Pause, Yeah it was me.
No shame though.

reply

I'm sure they'd be happy to know they have at least ONE fan.XD

reply

ONE fan who's not 13 at least.

reply

Now, a true fan would buy their album:

https://itunes.apple.com/nl/album/en-door/id1200435068

reply

I don't know about the album but I did buy a T-shirt
and a mouse pad. The mouse pad's were on sale.

reply

You should get this one as well, I bet it would look good on you:

https://www.berkmusic.nl/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2114

reply

How did I miss this?

I just ordered it. I was worried about what to wear to lunch next Friday.
Not anymore.
In case you still don't recognize me I'll be wearing a white sport coat
and a pink carnation.

reply

Are you insane?! You can't wear white after Labor Day!

reply

You Dutchies and all your little rules.

Fine. Just the carnation. Or are there rules for flowers too?

reply

Well, if you're culturally sensitive you'll choose a tulip instead. Preferably an orange one.

reply

Oh boy, now it's a thing. How about this.

A lavender tulip and I'll wear clogs and we can eat
Gouda cheese as an appetizer.

I usually don't have to work this hard but I'm sure
you're worth it.
It amazes me the things I'll do for a free lunch.

reply

That sounds like my dream lunch date! The only thing missing is Liam Neeson with some rhubarb tart.

reply

Ha!

I'm no Liam Neeson but I'll give it the old collage try.

Sis boom bah,
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Yeeeeeeaaaaah Team !

reply

I'm in awe, dewey, simply in awe. I don't think Liam can possibly top that.

reply

I'm sure Liam could come up with
a better cheer than that.

reply

I don't know, he doesn't look like a very cheery guy.

reply

I guess if Liam isn't cheery the old adage
is true. "Size doesn't matter"

In all fairness he lost his wife and hasn't
had a good movie in quite a while.

reply

I LOVE the song Downtown, and it makes me think of one of my fave movies too. "Girl Interrupted"
I also love Cyndi Lauper.. especially When you were mine, and Money Changes Everything. Such good stuff. I loved that album when I was a kid. :)

reply
