Grey cloudy spot on LCD TV screen

Can anyone help me in knowing what's happened to my TV screen?

I have a two year old LG TV, an LCD screen. Everything's been fine until just a couple of weeks ago I started noticing that there's an area of "grey cloud" on my screen -- yes, I cleaned the screen, lol! It's definitely within the screen and not on it, like dust etc.

But it looks like that. It's vague and hazy, there are no "bad pixels" in the dark area, just grey haze. You can really see it when the picture is of a blank white screen, or a clear sky, or someone's pale clothing.

The TV is beyond its warranty period so I have no free services available for a fix.

Is this something that has a remedy, or do I have a big problem and the only answer is a new TV? I've had this one for only two years!!

If you still have the quaranty for that lcd,then you should go to repair it

Sadly the warranty ran out more than a year ago, so its no longer covered.

Go and repair it,then if it cost you too much money,replace it,if you can afford,of course.

The warranty is over, meaning I can't repair if it the cost of repair is going to be high.

I posted my question on the off-chance that someone knows what may cause this and tell me "yeah that's just a fifty dollar repair, worth doing" or "that is your widget-wodget and generally costs more than the price of a new TV-- don't bother".

Don't keep posting "Go and repair it". . . .

I just wanted some insight from someone about the nature of it first. Repairs may be prohibitively high or may even be "turn it off then on again five times". . .

No,sadly it doesn't work with" turn off,then on" ,it's not a console or a pc😉

I was being facetious/using humor. . .

My point is, people post their questions and issues on a board like this in the hope of maybe getting more insight than the obvious "go fix it then" answer.

You have not contributed anything. Are you just a troll?

I'm hardly an expert, but it sounds like moisture has somehow gotten trapped in there. Has it been particularly humid, or can you think of any other way moisture got in?

I know packing a phone or camera in rice can remove moisture, but it'd take a LOT of rice to pack around TV.

What a bummer it's only 2 years old and is past the warranty :(

LG is one of the more reliable brands, but it sounds like your panel is defective. I'm not s service technician, but I've been selling TVs for over 15 years and I can tell you that the sets are built worse and cheaper every year. As of now, expect maybe 4 years out of your set. Labor for TV repair starts at $100 an hour, and the warrant on a repair is 30 days, and the rest of the set is still 2 years old and continuing to age, so repair usually is not cost effective. At this point you've nothing to lose by trying the remedy catbookss supplied. If that fails, I suggest you look into getting an open-box TV. The Best Buy website even lists availability and pricing of open-box stock. These can be a real good deal. Most of the sets are returned either because of stupidity, the guy didn't check with his wife first, or both. Good luck--and think about adding a service plan.
