Flat screen TV or the Old fashion TV set.

Which do you like better Flat screen TV sets or the regular square TV set.

I still have my good old TV and most of my family still have theres. They still work just as good as the flat screen in my opinion. My dad and mom just recently purchased a flat screen TV about year ago and its nice and work pretty good.

I like tube sets, but a large screen size means they're freaking heavy. And not all new content allows for the overscan on tube TVs, so stuff at the bottom or sides may be cut off, since content producers now assume your teevy shows every pixel. I suspect I'll be watching a plasma panel before the year is out, and some lucky Freecycler will be enjoying my old Sony 30" CRT.

"Tube sets" I couldn't think of the name to called the regular TV. Yeah you right they are heavy when I was moving from my old apartment to my new apartment I could carry the small 13' by myself but the bigger one my brother or dad had to carry that one.

Up to a point.

I replaced a 38 year old 25 inch Magnavox color vacuum tube set (you look in the back and see about 20 orange lights glowing) with a Panasonic HD flat panel. The current system is using Dish Network and HDMI cable and is adjusted properly.

Oh My God, and flame me if you will, but the flat panel ABSOLUTELY sucks for detail and depth of picture and color on most channels. That old tube set had better definition, better black levels, true/accurate color rendition, better contrast, no digital blocking and a full viewing area. Faces appear flat and washed out on the HD sets and it's not just mine.

Digital hash or background washout drives me insane. T

You can't get HD on older sets. Converter box will change the signal to analog. I had an HDTV tube set 1080i which had better picture quality than flat screen. Most shows are broadcast in 1080i or less. Some flat screens are 1080p which is the best resolution for blu ray and games. Flat screens also have HDMI connection needed for 1080p. Many flat screens do not have QAM tuner needed for cable HD reception so you have to have a cable box with those.
