I've noticed that, in a director and/or writer's 2nd play...

... people (not just critics) already like to point out possible trademarks and recurring themes. If there are no connections between it and the 1st play... they still point that out. Why? Why not just talk about the specific play? And why not wait until the 3rd play, when it'll officially become a pattern?
