Tinted Windows

How can I tell if a used car was factory tinted or done later at a shop? Are tinted windows done from the inside or outside? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but won't know if I don't ask. Thanks.

Windows are tinted on the inside, but I don't know how to tell if the window was tinted at the factory or shop. However, if there are visible air pockets in the tint, the job was done at neither.

And don't be afraid to ask if you don't know. The people you're asking didn't know at one point.

The VIN# on the car tells alot about what a car had done by the factory. Also factory tint windows are manufactured with tint in the glass.

Factory tint is actual smoked glass, shop tint is an adhesive film. Roll the window part way down and see if you can peel the tint off.

just take it to a tint shop, they could tell you in a minute.
